RUG—MATERIALS—Lily Knitting and Crochet Cot­ton Yarn, Art. 600:—1-skein Cream, 2-skeins Yellow, 3-skeins each Orange and Lt. Brown, 4-skeins Reseda and 5-skeins Med. Brown (or other colors). Crochet hook size 0. Size—24" x 31".

Make rug in Short loop stitches. BLOCK—In Cream, ch 2, making 1st st ¼” long. 12 short lp sts in long st. In back loops of sc at all times, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 2—Ch 1, lp st in same st, (lp st in next 2 sts, 3 lp sts in next st) 3 times, lp st in next 2 sts, 2 lp sts in sl st, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 3—Ch 1, 2 lp sts in same st, (lp st in next 4 st, 3 lp sts in next st) 3 times, a lp st in next 5 sts, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. Cut 3" long. ROW 4—In Yellow, sl st in 2d sc at one corner. ** ch 1, 2 lp sts in same st, * lp st in next 6 sts. 5 lp sts in next (center) corner st. Repeat from * twice, working over end left from last row. Lp st in next 6 sts, 3 lp sts in sl st, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 5—Ch 1, 2 lp sts in same st, * 10 lp sts, 3 lp sts in next (4th) corner sc. Repeat from * twice. 11 lp sts, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 6—Ch 1, 2 lp sts in same st, lp sts around with 3 lp sts in 2d (center) sc at each corner. End with 1 lp st in sl st, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. Cut 3" long. ROW 7—Sl st in Orange in center (2d) sc at one corner, * ch 1, 2 lp sts in same st, lp sts around, with 5 in center st at each corner. End with 3 lp sts in starting corner, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. Work over end from last row. ROW 8—Ch 1, 2 lp sts in same st, lp sts around, with 3 in 4th sc at each corner. End with 1 lp st in 1st corner, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. Repeat Row 6 and cut. Repeat Rows 7 and 8 in Lt. Brown and again in Med. Brown. EDGE—In Med. Brown, ch 2, turn, 2 hdc in sl st, hdc around, with 5 in center st at each corner. End with 2 hdc in 1st corner, sl st in 1st 2-ch. ROW 2—Make 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off. Make 12 Blocks. Cut a large card­board square 1" larger than Block. Mark around pattern on tissue paper or cloth. Stretch and pin each block right-side-down on pattern on a padded board. Steam and press dry thru a cloth. Sew blocks together thru both loops, exactly matching corners. Tie on Fluff Fringe around edge and between blocks, using 23-strand tufts.

SEAT COVER—MATERIALS—33-yds. Cream, 63-yds. Yellow, 102-yds. Orange, 135-yds. Lt. Brown, 2-skeins Med. Brown and 82-yds. Reseda (or other colors). Multiply by number of chairs to be covered and divide by 100 yds. to find number of skeins of each color needed. Size—18½” across front, 15" across back, 16" from front to back. Made in Short Loop Stitches.

In Cream, ch 2, making 1st st ¼” long. 11 short lp sts in long st. Working in back loops of each sc, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 2—Ch 1, 2 lp sts in same sc, (lp st in next 2 sc, 3 lp sts in next st) 3 times, lp st in next sc, lp st in next sl st, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 3—Ch 1, 1 lp st in same st, * lp sts across side with 5 lp sts in 2d (cen­ter) st at next (front) corner. Repeat from * once. Lp sts across side with 3 lp sts in center st at next (back) corner, lp sts across side, 2 lp sts in sl st, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 4—Ch 1, 2 lp sts in same st, (lp sts across side, 3 lp sts in 4th st of 5 corner sc) twice, lp sts across side with 3 lp sts in 3d sc at next corner, lp sts across side, 1 lp st in sl st, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 5—Ch 1, 2 lp sts in same st, lp sts across each side, with 3 lp sts in 2d (center) sc at each corner. End with 1 lp st in sl st, sk 1-ch, sl st in 1st sc. Repeat Rows 3, 4 and 5. Fasten off. 2D BAND—Sl st in Yellow in same st and (repeat Rows 3, 4 and 5) twice, and Row 3 again. Fas­ten off. 3D BAND—Sl st in Orange in same st and (repeat Rows 4, 5 and 3) twice, and Row 4 again. Fas­ten off. 4TH BAND—Sl st in Lt. Brown in same st and (repeat Rows 5, 3 and 4) twice, and Row 5 again. Fas­ten off. 5TH BAND—In Med. Brown, repeat 2d Band, deducting rows for a smaller seat, or adding rows in same order, for a larger chair. EDGE—In Med. Brown, make a row of sc (without lp sts) around, without widening at corners. BEADING ROW—(Ch 1, hdc in next 2d st) around. Join and fasten off.
