Attach thread in one corner of handkerchief, ch 1, 2 sc in same place where thread was attached, now work sc closely along rolled edge of handkerchief, being careful to keep corners flat. Join with sl st in 1st sc made. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, ch 5, sc in next sc (corner loop made), * ch 5, sk 3 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * to next corner, ch 5, sc in next st (another corner loop made). Continue thus around, ending with ch 3, dc in 1st sc made. 3rd rnd: Ch 5, in corner loop make sc, ch 5 and sc, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across to next corner, in corner loop make sc, ch 5 and sc. Continue thus around, ending with ch 3, dc in joining dc. 4th rnd: Ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 5, in corner loop make sc, ch 5 and sc, ** (ch 5, sc in next loop) 5 times; (5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop) twice; ch 5, sc in next loop, (5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop) twice; * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across until the last sc is made in the 10th loop from next corner (not counting corner loop); (5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop) twice; ch 5, sc in next loop, (5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop) twice; (ch 5, sc in next loop) 4 times; ch 5, in corner loop make sc, ch 5 and sc. Repeat from ** around, ending with ch 3, dc in joining dc. 5th rnd: Make ch-5 loops to corner, make corner loop, * make five ch-5 loops, (5 dc in next sc, sc in center dc below) twice; 5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in center dc below) twice; (5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop) twice. Make ch-5 loops across until the last sc made is in the 12th loop from corner (not counting corner loop). Make 5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop, 5 dc in next sc, sc in next center dc below, ch 5, sc in next center dc below, ch 5, sc in next loop, (5 dc in next sc, sc in next center dc below) twice; 5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop, make five ch-5 loops, corner loop in corner loop. Repeat from * around, ending as before. Dotted line on chart indicates beginning of rnd. Starting with the 6th rnd, follow chart until edging is completed. Join and fasten off.
