Starting at narrow end, ch 10. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 2, sk 2 ch, 2 dc in next ch, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch (shell made), ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in last ch. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Shell in ch-2 of shell below, ch 2, dc in last dc, dc in top st of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Dc in next dc, ch 2, shell over shell, ch 1, dc in ch-5 loop, ch 8, sc in same loop, turn. 4th row: Work 12 sc in the ch-8 loop, ch 5, shell over shell, ch 2, dc in last dc, dc in top st of turning ch. Turn. 5th row: Sl st in next dc, (sl st in 2 ch and in 2 dc) twice; sl st in 3 ch, ch 5, sc in next 3 sc, (ch 5, sc in next 3 sc) 3 times; ch 5, sc in the ch-8 loop. Ch 1, turn. 6th row: In each ch-5 loop make sc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, tr, ch 3, tr, ch 2, dc, ch 2 and sc; ch 5, shell over shell, ch 2, dc in last 2 dc. Ch 3, turn. 7th row: Dc in next dc, ch 2, shell over shell, ch 1, dc in ch-5 loop. Ch 5, turn. 8th row: Same as 2nd row. 9th row: Same as 7th row. 10th to 13th rows incl: Repeat 2nd to 5th rows inclusive. 14th row: In 1st ch-5 loop make sc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, tr, ch 1, sl st in corresponding ch-3 of last petal of last scallop, ch 1, in same ch-5 loop make tr, ch 2, dc, ch 2 and sc; work as for 6th row over remaining ch-5 loops, ch 5, shell over shell, ch 2, dc in last 2 dc. Ch 3, turn. 15th, 16th and 17th rows: Repeat 7th, 2nd and 7th rows respectively. Repeat the last 8 rows (10th to 17th rows inclusive) for length desired. Fasten off.
