ROYAL SOCIETY ROYAL PERLE, Size 5, 8 balls of (No. 364) Leaf Green and 5 balls of (No. 1) White.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

Doily measures 11½ x 15½ inches.

Starting at center with Green, ch 50. 1st rnd: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch; working along opposite side of starting chain, make sc in each ch across. 2nd rnd: * 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each sc across to next 3-sc group. Repeat from * once more. 3rd to 12th rnds incl: Sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each 3-sc group. Join and break off.

FIRST RND OF RINGS-First Ring … With White, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 3 sc in ring, sl st in first sc preceding corner on long side of center, 12 sc in ring. Join and break off.

SECOND RING … Ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 3 sc in ring, skip 3 sc on First Ring following joining, sl st in next sc, 3 sc on Second Ring, skip 4 sc on center, sl st in next sc, 8 sc on Second Ring. Join and break off. Make 11 more rings, joining adjacent sides as Second Ring was joined to First Ring and center.

CORNER RING … Ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 6 sc in ring, skip 3 sc on last ring made, sl st in next sc, 9 sc in corner ring. Join and break off.

NEXT RING … Ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 3 sc in ring, skip 3 sc on corner ring, sl st in next sc, 3 sc in ring now in work, skip 3-sc group on center, sl st in next sc, 8 sc in ring. Join and break off. Make 25 more rings, joining adjacent sides as before and leaving 3 sc free on each corner.

   Attach Green to center sc of any corner ring. Next rnd: 3 sc in same place as sl st, * ch 6, sc in center sc of next ring, ** ch 4, sc in center sc of next ring. Repeat from ** across side to ring preceding next corner ring, ch 6, 3 sc in center sc of corner ring. Repeat from * around. Following rnd: Sc in each ch and in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each 3-sc group. Work as before, making sc in each sc around and 3 sc in center sc of each 3-sc group, until 8 sc rnds are completed. Join and break off.

SECOND RND OF RINGS-First Ring … With White, ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 4 sc in ring, skip 2 sc preceding corner group on long side, sl st in next sc, 15 sc in ring. Join and break off.

SECOND RING … Ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 4 sc in ring, skip 4 sc following joining on First Ring, sl st in next sc, 4 sc on Second Ring, skip 6 sc on center, sl st in next sc, 10 sc on Second Ring. Join and break off. Make 42 more rings, joining adjacent sides as Second Ring was joined to First Ring, leaving 6 sc free on center and 4 sc free on each ring between joinings and having 7 sc free at corners and 4 sc free on inner side of each corner ring.

   Next rnd: Attach Green to center sc of any corner ring, 3 sc in same place, * ch 9, sc in center sc of next ring, ** ch 6, sc in center sc of next ring. Repeat from ** across side to last ring preceding corner ring, ch 9, 3 sc in center sc of corner ring. Repeat from * around. Work as before until 12 sc-rnds are completed. Join and break off.

THIRD RND OF RINGS-First Ring … With White, ch 15. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 5 sc in ring, skip 3 sc preceding corner on long side, sl st in next sc, 18 sc in ring. Join and break off.

SECOND RING … Ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 5 sc in ring, skip 5 sc on First Ring following joining, sl st in next sc, 5 sc on Second Ring, skip 8 sc on center, sl st in next sc, 12 sc on Second Ring. Join and break off. Make 56 more rings, joining adjacent sides as Second Ring was joined to First Ring, leaving 8 sc free on center and 5 sc free on each ring between joinings, and having 9 sc free on each corner and 5 sc free on inner side of each corner ring.

   Next rnd: Attach Green to center sc of any corner ring, 3 sc in same place, * ch 9, sc in center sc of next ring, ** ch 7, sc in center sc of next ring. Repeat from ** across side to last ring preceding corner ring, ch 9, 3 sc in corner ring. Repeat from * around. Work as before until 3 sc-rnds are completed. Join and break off. Starch lightly and press.
