There are slight variations to materials and instructions between these two versions of the same pattern in different publications. Two versions are below.



American Thread #15, Book of Crocheted, Knitted, Tatted

MATERIALS REQUIRED — American Thread Company Sillateen Sansil.

1 Ball of Flower Shade will make 2 Flowers. 1 Ball of Green will be sufficient for 12 flowers. Colors used in Bouquet are Bright Red, Pink, White and Shaded Dk. Pinks.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 5.
1 Bunch of Artificial Leaves.

With Green ch 3, join to form a ring, ch 1 and work 10 s c into ring, join.

2nd Round—Ch 1, 2 s c in each s c, join, ch 1 and work 6 rounds even.

Attach color, * ch 7, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c repeat from * around row. (10 loops.)

Next Round—Sl st into loop, ch 5, 20 d tr c in each of the 10 loops, join.

Next Round—* ch 2, s c into next st, repeat from * all around. Break thread.

Fasten a knot into wire and pull through calyx, fill calyx with cotton and sew together under flower.

Wind thread around wire or cover with rubber tissue tape.

 

American Thread #45, Treasure Chest of Crochet

Materials Required – AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "SILLATEEN SANSIL," ARTICLE 102
40 yds. of Color are required for each flower.
1-100 yd. Ball Green will be sufficient for 24 flowers.
1 Bunch Artificial leaves or cut strips from Green Crepe Paper about 6 inches long and ⅜ inch wide shaping slightly.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 5.

With Green, ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 1 and work 10 s c in ring, join.

2nd Row. 2 s c in each s c, join.

Next 6 Rows. 1 s c in each s c, break Green.

Attach Color, * ch 7, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * all around (10 loops).

Next Row. Sl st into loop, ch 6 and work 21 tr tr c (4 times over needle) in same loop, * 22 tr tr c in next loop, repeat from * all around, join in 6th st of ch.

Next Row. * Ch 2, s c in next tr tr c, repeat from * all around, break thread.

Fasten a knot in end of wire and pull through calyx, fill calyx with cotton and sew together under the flower.

Cover wire with ½ inch strip of green crepe paper and attach 3 leaves as illustrated. Curl the leaves with knife.
