MATERIALS REQUIRED—American Thread Com­pany "Dawn" Pompadour Yarn or Shetland Floss.

1¾-oz.Ball of White and about 10 yds. of any color desired for scallop.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 2—1 yd. of narrow ribbon.

Ch 3, 6 s c in first st of ch, join each row.

2nd Row—Ch 3, 3 d c in each st (18 d c), ch 3.

3rd Row—Yarn over, insert in same space, yarn over, insert in same space, yarn over, insert in same space, yarn over, draw through all loops but one, yarn over, draw through 2 loops, this is termed a puff st.

Work a d c and a puff st in each remaining st.

4th Row—Ch 3, 1 d c in each puff st and 2 d c in each d c.

5th RowBeading—Ch 4, d c in next st, *ch 1, d c in next st, repeat from * all around, break yarn.

SCALLOP. Join color in mesh, ch 3, d c in same space, ch 1, d c in same space *ch 1, skip 1 mesh, s c in next mesh, ch 1, skip 1 mesh and work 3 d c with ch 1 between in next mesh, repeat from * all around, break yarn, and make a second circle. Lace the two sections together slipping the rattle in place, finish with ribbon bows as illustrated.
