Edging and Insertion Pattern #3-13

EDGING … Starting at one narrow end, ch 10. 1st row: Dc in 6th ch from hook, (ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch) twice. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch, ch 4, then holding back the last loop of each tr on hook work 2 tr in last dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made). Ch 9, turn. 3rd row: Dc in 6th ch from hook, ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch, ch 1, dc in top of cluster. Ch 4, turn. Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows alternately for length desired, ending with 3rd row. Do not fasten off but ch 4 to turn and work as follows: Next row: Dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch, ch 7 and continue along length of edging. Sk 1 sp, * in next sp work three 3-tr clusters with ch-5 between, sk 2 sps, next cluster and 1 sp. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 7, sl st in 1st ch at beginning of edging. Do not fasten off but sl st to top of dc and in next 2 ch, then work along top as follows:
HEADING … Sc in sp, ch 4, then holding back the last loop of each tr on hook work 2 tr in same sp and complete a cluster as before, * sk 2 sps, work d tr under ch-4 of next cluster, ch 7, d tr in same place, sk 1 sp, 3-tr cluster in next sp. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.
INSERTION … 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows: Same as for Edging. Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows alternately for length desired, ending with 3rd row. Do not fasten off but ch 4 to turn and work as follows: Next row: Dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 4, sk 1 ch, sl st in next 2 ch, then follow directions for Heading. Fasten off. Attach thread and work Heading along other long edge in same way.
