Rug Yarn Calot Pattern #1159
MATERIALS:
CLARK'S O.N.T. COTTON RUG YARN, 1 ball of any color.
Steel Crochet Hook, Size G.
GAUGE: 7 sts make 2 inches; 3 rnds make 1½ inches.
CALOT … Starting at top, ch 4. 1st rnd: 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with sl st in top st of ch-4. 2nd rnd: Ch 2, working only in the back loop, make h dc in each st, increasing 9 sts evenly around—to increase, work 2 sts in 1 st (21 sts). Join with sl st in 1st h dc. 3rd rnd: Ch 1, working only in the back loop, make sc in each st, increasing 6 sts evenly around (27 sts). Join to 1st sc. 4th rnd: Ch 3, working only in the back loop, make dc in each st, increasing 12 sts evenly around (39 sts). Join. Repeat last 3 rnds (2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds) once more (66 sts). Join.
Continue in pattern without increasing until piece measures 5½ inches from top. Next rnd: Sl st in each st around, being careful to keep desired headsize. Fasten off.
TASSEL … Make a chain 5½ inches long. Cut remaining yarn into 24-inch lengths. Tie them together at center. Wind a piece of yarn 3 times around Tassel near top. Fasten Tassel to one end of chain. Fasten other end of chain to top of Calot. Tack chain to Calot to cover joining of rnds.
