GAUGE: 9¼ sps make 2 inches; 2 sc rows and 3 rows of sps make 1 inch.

Work is done vertically.

LEFT HANDPALM … Starting at little finger side of Palm, ch 73 to measure 8½ inches. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (72 sc). Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: * Skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * across (36 sps). Ch 4, turn. 3rd and 4th rows: * Dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn, but only ch 1 to turn at end of 4th row (this is tip of little finger). 5th row: * Sc in next dc, sc in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * across to between little finger and ring finger. Then make a chain ½ inch longer than ring finger (thus starting ring finger). Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across to within 1st sp, ** sc in next sp, sc in next dc. Repeat from ** to end of row (this is wrist edge of glove). Ch 4, turn.
Repeat the last 4 rows (2nd to 5th rows incl) 3 more times, making the starting chain of each finger ½ inch longer than the length from between fingers to finger tip, and having the same number of rows on each finger. This completes Palm. Fasten off.

BACK OF HAND … Starting at same side as Palm was started, ch 72 to measure 8½ inches. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (71 sc). Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 4, turn. 3rd row: Dc in 1st sc, * (skip 2 sc, in next sc make dc, ch 1 and dc) twice; skip 3 sc, in next sc make dc, ch 1 and dc. Repeat from * across (22 dc-groups made). Ch 4, turn. 4th row: Between 1st and 2nd groups make dc, ch 1 and dc, skip 2nd group, between 2nd and 3rd groups make dc, ch 1 and dc. Continue in this manner across until 21 groups are made, ch 1, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch of previous row. Ch 1, turn. 5th row: Sc in dc just made, 2 sc in next sp, * sc in each of next dc, ch-1 and dc. Repeat from * across to within last sp, 2 sc in last sp, sc in next st of turning ch. Ch 1, turn. 6th row: Sc in each sc across until work reaches between little finger and ring finger. Then make a chain ½ inch longer than ring finger (thus starting ring finger). Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Sl st in next sc and fasten off. Attach thread to 1st sc at tip of ring finger, sc in same place where thread was attached, sc in each sc across to wrist edge. Ch 4, turn.
Repeat the last 4 rows (3rd to 6th rows incl) 3 more times, making the starting chain of each finger ½ inch longer than the length from between fingers to finger tip and having the same number of rows on each finger. Fasten off.
Place Palm over Back of Hand and pin together. Measure up 1 inch from wrist edge on opposite side from little finger and mark with a pin. Measure ¾ inch up from pin mark and mark with another pin. Then thread a needle and sew the ¾ inch (between pin marks) neatly together with over-and-over stitches. Fasten end securely. Remove pins. Now measure 2¾ inches up from piece just sewn and mark with another pin (the space between pin and piece just sewn forms thumb opening). With a needle and thread, starting at pin, sew the Back and Palm together neatly all around, fingers included (curving tips of fingers while sewing), to within 1 inch from wrist edge at little finger side. Fasten end securely.

THUMB … With Palm side facing, attach thread to top of thumb opening and make a chain ½ inch longer than length of Thumb. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sc in next 4 sc on palm side of glove, ch 2, turn. 2nd row: * Skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * to tip of thumb. Ch 4, turn. 3rd row: * Dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from *, making a dc where ch-2 started on previous row, ch 1, skip 1 sc, sc in next 5 sc on Palm of glove. Ch 2, turn. 4th row: Repeat 2nd row. 5th row: * Dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from * across, making a dc where ch-2 started on previous row, ** ch 1, skip 1 sc on Palm, dc in next sc. Repeat from ** to lower joining of Thumb opening. Ch 1, turn. 6th row: * Sc in next sp, sc in next dc. Repeat from * across row and across tip of Thumb to 1st sc row, sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off. This completes one half of Thumb. With palm side facing, attach thread to top of Thumb opening and work other half to correspond.
Sew the two Thumb edges neatly together.

RIGHT HAND … Work as for Left Hand, but join to fit Right Hand.
