MATERIALS:
Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Pearl Cotton size 5, 4 balls of any color desired.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8.
117 bone rings, ⅞ inch in diameter.

This material is sufficient for a set of 3 mats, measuring 5 x 5¾ inches, 7 x 8 inches and 9 x 10¼ inches.

First Motif … 1st rnd: Make 36 s c in bone ring. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, * s c in next 5 s c, ch 3, skip 1 s c. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, join to 1st s c made. Fasten off.

Second Motif … 1st rnd: As for first motif. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, s c in next 5 s c, ch 1, sl st in ch-3 loop of first motif, ch 1, skip 1 s c of previous rnd, s c in next 5 s c, ch 1, sl st in corresponding loop on first motif, ch 1, skip 1 s c, s c in next 5 s c; complete as for 2nd rnd of first motif.

Third Motif … As for previous motifs, joining at all corresponding ch-3's.
   Hereafter follow chart for joinings (19 rings for small mat, 37 for medium mat, 61 for large mat).
