Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "AUNT LYDIA'S" STAR SPUN, Article 235
2 skeins Black and Gold or color of your choice for hat.
Aluminum crochet hook size G.

GAUGE: 7 s c = 2 inches. 7 rows = 2 inches.

12 small coins or sequins for hat.

HAT

Ch 2, 8 s c in 2nd st from hook, do not join rounds, place a marker at beginning of each round.

2nd Round: 2 s c in each s c.

3rd Round: * 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around. Work 1 round even. Repeat the last 2 rounds once.

7th Round: Working in s c increase in every 3rd s c. Work 1 round even.

9th Round: Increase in every 4th s c. Work 8 rounds even, sl st in next st to even round.

18th Round: * Ch 1, yarn over hook, insert in next st, pull loop through and up about inch, yarn over, insert in same space, pull loop up the same length, yarn over and pull through all loops but one, yarn over and pull through 2 loops (puff st), ch 1, and keeping the puff sts to front of work, sl st in next s c, repeat from * all around, join, cut yarn.

TABS: * Ch 8, sl st in 2nd st from hook, 1 sl st in each remaining st of ch, ch 11, sl st in 2nd st from hook, 1 sl st in each remaining st of ch, sl st in 1st st of starting ch, repeat from * once, cut yarn leaving a length. Make another set of tabs in same manner. Sew a coin or sequin on end of each tab. Sew a 2nd coin or sequin about 1 inch from 1st coin or sequin on the 4 larger tabs.

Draw ends through center of hat and fasten firmly inside of hat.
