MATERIALS:
CLARK'S BIG BALL MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. B.34, Size 30: 1 ball of White; or
J. & P. COATS BEST SIX CORD MER­CERIZED CROCHET, Art. A.104, Size 30: 1 ball of White; or
CLARK'S O.N.T. BEST SIX CORD MER­CERIZED CROCHET, Art. B.4, Size 30: 2 balls of White.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 10.
A blue guest towel.

   Starting at narrow end, ch 20. 1st row: In 8th ch from hook make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made); ch 7, skip next 4 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip next ch, sc in next ch, ch 7, skip next 4 ch, in next ch make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (another shell made). Ch 7, turn. 2nd row: Shell in sp of shell (shell made over shell), ch 4, sc in next loop, ch 5, skip next ch-3 loop, sc in next loop, ch 4, shell over next shell. Ch 7, turn. 3rd row: Shell over shell, ch 1, skip next loop, 9 tr in next loop, ch 1, shell over next shell. Ch 7, turn. 4th row: Shell over shell, ch 3, sc in next tr, (ch 3, skip next tr, sc in next tr) 4 times; ch 3, shell over shell. Ch 7, turn. 5th row: Shell over shell, ch 4, skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) 3 times; sc in next loop, ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 7, turn. 6th row: Shell over shell, ch 5, skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) twice; sc in next loop, ch 5, shell over shell. Ch 7, turn. 7th row: Shell over shell, ch 7, skip next sp, sc in next loop, ch 3, sc in next loop, ch 7, shell over shell. Ch 7, turn. Repeat 2nd to 7th rows incl until piece is length desired, ending with 7th row. Next row: Shell over shell, ch 5, skip next sp, tr in next loop, ch 5, shell over shell. Break off.

HEADING … Attach thread to first ch-7 loop on long side, sc in same loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Break off.
   Starch edging lightly and press. Sew to towel.

FRINGE … Cut 8 strands of thread, each 5 inches long. Double strands to form a loop, insert hook in first ch-7 loop on opposite side, draw loop through. Draw loose ends through loop and pull up tightly to form a knot. Make a fringe in each turning chain loop across. Trim ends evenly.
