BERRY: With Red ch 2, 8 s c in 2nd st from hook, without joining rows, work 2 s c in each s c.
3rd and 4th Rows—1 s c in each s c.
5th Row—1 s c in next s c, decrease in next 2 sts (to decrease: * insert hook in next st, pull loop through, repeat from *, thread over and pull through all loops at one time), repeat from beginning all around. Fill with cotton or Red yarn, then decrease every other st until 3 sts remain, draw together, break thread leaving an end. Work 11 more berries in same manner and sew in position as illustrated.
IF YOU ARE MAKING BASIC CENTER No. 2—Work 10 leaves same as for basic center No. 1 joining to center as follows: attach White in 1 st d c of any d c group, ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 1, join in 1st point from lower edge of leaf always having the 5 point side of leaf next to center, * ch 1, d c in same space on center, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 3, s c in next loop, ch 3, sl st in next point of same leaf, ch 3, s c in next loop on center, ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 4 d c, ch 1, sl st in next point of same leaf, ch 1, d c in same space on center, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 3, s c in next loop, ch 7, sl st in 4th st from hook for picot, ch 3, s c in next loop, ch 3, 1 s c in each of the next 4 d c, ch 1, sl st in 1st point from lower edge of next leaf, repeat from * until all leaves are joined, break thread. Work 20 berries same as for Basic Center No. 1 and sew in position between leaves as illustrated catching the lower edge of leaf and next free point of previous leaf when sewing.
