Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" RUG YARN, Article 44
2 skeins Red.
1 skein Black.
1 skein White.
Steel crochet hook No. 00.
NOTE: materials will make both dolls, Mammy and Pappy.
PAPPY
Work body, eyes, arms and mouth same as mammy.
PANTS: With Red ch 15, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 13 sts of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. Working through back loop of sts for remainder of pants, work 1 s c in each of the next 11 s c, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row. 1 s c in each of the next 11 s c, ch 1, turn.
4th Row. 1 s c in each of the next 11 s c, 1 s c in each of the remaining 3 s c of 3rd row below, ch 1, turn.
5th Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn. Repeat the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rows 4 times, then work 1 row even in s c (1st leg), ch 15 for next leg, turn. S c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 13 sts of ch, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn. Repeat the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rows of 1st leg 4 times, then repeat the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows once, ch 1, and working across top of each leg for waist band, work 9 s c across each leg and 1 s c at center (19 s c), ch 1, turn.
Next 2 Rows. 1 s c in each s c, cut yarn.
BIB: With wrong side of band toward you attach Red in 8th s c, s c in same space, 1 s c in each of the next 4 s c, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn. Repeat the last row twice, cut yarn. Place on body having opening to the back.
TIES: With White, lace same as for girl but tie with knot in center front, then around to back and tie again, cut yarn.
Divide lower section of body in half for legs and insert in each pants leg and sew under leg seams to the waist band. The seams are at inside of legs.
HAT: With Red ch 2, 6 s c in 2nd st from hook, without joining rounds and working in back loop of sts only for remainder of hat, work 2 s c in each s c.
3rd Round. Working in s c increase in every other st (18 s c). Work 2 rounds even.
6th Row. Working in front loop of sts only, s c in next st, 2 s d c in next st (s d c: yarn over hook, insert in st, pull through, yarn over and pull through all loops at one time), 2 d c in next st, 2 tr c in each of the next 2 sts, 2 d c in next st, 2 s d c in next st, s c in next st, sl st in next st, cut yarn.
TRIMMING: Using a double strand of White pull through center st of 5th round, tie in knot, then pull one end of White through to inside of cap at beginning of visor and the other end at end of visor, tie loosely on inside of hat. Place on head and sew in position. Place twig in hand if desired.
