Materials: Choose one of the following threads in Ecru or White:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, size 30, 1 ball.
J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 30, 1 ball.
J. & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, size 30, 1 ball.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 10 or 11.

When completed, doily measures about 11 x 7½ inches.

Gauge: 6 sps make 1 inch; 6 rows make 1 inch.

Starting at narrow end, ch 20. 1st row: D c in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch (2 sps made). Repeat from * across. Ch 10, turn. 2nd row: D c in 8th ch from hook, ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next d c (2 sps increased); then make sp over sp across, ch 5, d c in same place as last d c (1 sp increased), ch 5, turn, d c in 3rd st of ch-5 just made (another sp increased). Ch 10, turn. 3rd row: D c in 8th ch from hook, ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch, 4 more sps, 2 d c in next sp, d c in next d c (1 bl made), sp over sp across. Then increase 2 sps as before. Ch 7, turn. 4th row: D c in 1st d c, 6 more sps, 1 bl, 6 sps. Then ch 5, d c at base of last d c (another sp increased), turn, sl st in each of 1st 3 ch. Ch 7, turn. Hereafter follow illustration up to first decrease row. On next row, sl st across sts of 1st sp (1 sp decreased), and follow illustration across row to within last sp (another sp decreased). Ch 5, turn. Hereafter follow illustration until doily is completed.
