LILY DOUBLE QUICK Mercerized Crochet Cotton, Art. 50: 4 skeins Aqua.

No. 3 Steel Crochet Hook.

4 Hooks and eyes … 3 snap fasteners … rhinestones … Aqua ribbon belt lining 1⅝ inches wide … Aqua felt.

COLLAR: 1st HALF: OVAL: Starting in center back, ch 15, dc in 6th ch from hook, (ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch) 3 times, ch 2, sk 2 ch, sl st in end ch.

RND 2: Ch 3, 6 dc in same place, * (2 dc in next sp, dc in next st, dc in next sp, dc in next st) twice, 2 dc in end sp, * 7 dc in 3d st of same sp; repeat from * to *; join to ch-3.

1st SCROLL: Turn, sk sl st, sl st in next dc, * ch 5, dc in next dc, (ch 1, sk 1 dc, tr in next dc) 4 times, (ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc) twice. Ch 3, turn, (dc in next sp, dc in next st, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next st) 3 times, in end sp make 6 dc, hdc and sl st. Ch 1, turn, sk sl st, sl st in next 9 sts. Repeat from * until top edge measures 7½ inches. Ch 1, turn, sl st around scroll to corner. Fasten off.

2d HALF: With wrong-side-facing, sk 3 dc across top of Oval, attach to next dc, ch 4, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, *    (ch 1, sk 1 dc, tr in next dc) 4 times, ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 5, sl st in next dc. Turn and make sc, hdc and 6 dc in ch-5 sp, dc in next dc, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next st, dc in next sp, dc in next st) twice, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next st, holding back the last lp of each dc on hook make 2 dc in end sp, Y O and draw thru all 3 lps on hook at the same time (2-dc Cluster made). Ch 4, turn, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc; repeat from * to match 1st Half. Ch 1, turn, sl st around last scroll, (sl st around end of next scroll) repeated to Oval, sl st around end of Oval. Fasten off. Work 2 sc in end of each row around neck edge. Fasten off.

BELT: 1st HALF: OVAL: Starting in center back, ch 13, dc in 6th ch from hook, (ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch) twice, ch 2, sk 2 ch, sl st in end ch.

RND 2: Ch 3, 6 dc in same place, * 2 dc in next sp, (dc in next dc, dc in next sp) twice, dc in next dc, 2 dc in end sp, * 7 dc in 3d st of same sp, repeat from * to *; join to ch-3.

1st SCROLL: Ch 1, turn, sk sl st, sl st in next dc, * ch 5, dc in next dc, (ch 1, sk 1 dc, tr in next dc) twice, ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 5, sl st in next dc. Ch 1, turn and make sc, hdc and 6 dc in ch-5, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc, dc in next sp, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc, in end sp make 6 dc, hdc and sl st. Ch 1, turn, sk sl st, sl st in next 8 sts; repeat from * for half of desired length. After final Scroll, ch 1, turn, sl st around last scroll, (sl st around end of next Scroll) repeated to Oval, sl st in 8 sts around end of Oval; repeat from * for 2d Half. Fasten off.

BAG: Ch 65 tightly, sc in 3d st from hook, (ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch) repeated across.

ROW 2: Ch 2, turn, sc between 1st 2 sc, (ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp) repeated across to end ch-2. Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 12¾ inches.

EDGE: Ch 1, turn, * sl st in each sc and sp across end; (sc in 5 rows, sk 1 row) repeated to next corner; repeat from * around; join, fasten off.

Repeat Belt thru 4 Scrolls on each side of Oval. Sew to one end of Bag. Stretch and pin pieces right-side-down Steam and press dry thru a cloth. Sew 8 rhinestones on Oval and 5 on each Scroll of Collar; sew 6 on Oval and 4 on each Scroll of Belt and Bag. Line Belt with rib­bon and fasten with 3 hooks and eyes. Fasten Collar with hook and eye. Fold up 5 inches of Bag to form pocket. Sew up side seams. Fold remaining 4¾ inches over top of Bag for flap. Line Bag with Felt. Fasten flap with snap fasteners.
