GAUGE: 5 sc make 1 inch; 6 rows make 1 inch.
HEAD … Using 1 strand each of Spice and Nu-Ecru together, ch 61. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in next 30 sc (inner edge). Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each sc across to within last 2 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc (1 sc decreased). Ch 1, turn. 4th row: Work off first 2 sc as 1 sc, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 5th to 25th rows incl: Repeat 3rd and 4th rows alternately. Break off at end of 25th row. Attach thread to next free sc on first row and work to correspond.
BODY … 1st row: Working along opposite side of starting chain, attach Spice and Nu-Ecru to first ch, sc in same place and in next 13 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 14 ch, skip 2 ch, sc in next 14 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 14 ch. Ch 1, turn. Hereafter pick up back loop only. 2nd and 3rd rows: Sc in each sc across, making 3 sc in center sc of each point and skipping 2 sc between points. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 3rd row. 4th to 15th rows incl: Attach a double strand of Hunter's Green and repeat 3rd row, having 1 sc more at both ends of each row. At end of 15th row break off 1 strand of Hunter's Green, attach 1 strand of Chartreuse Green. 16th and 17th rows: Work as before, decreasing 1 sc at both ends of each row. At end of 17th row, break off Hunter's Green and attach 1 strand of Chartreuse. 18th to 27th rows incl: Repeat 16th row. At end of 27th row, break off 1 strand of Chartreuse and attach 1 strand of Nu-Ecru. 28th to 33rd rows incl: (Work off first 2 sc as 1 sc) twice (2 sc decreased), work in pattern across to within last 4 sc, dec 2 sc. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 33rd row. Now work in short rows as follows: 1st row: Attach thread to center sc of next point, sc in each sc across to center sc of other point. Ch 1, turn. 2nd to 10th rows incl: Sc in each sc, decreasing 1 sc at both ends of each row. At end of 10th row break off Chartreuse, attach Nu-Ecru.
TAIL … 1st row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc, increasing 1 sc at both ends of row. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately 5 times more. Break off.
Make another piece the same way. Sew the two pieces together. Line bag. Sew zipper across opening at top. Sew sequins and beads in place for eyes. With Green sc closely around all rings. Sew 2 metal rings to each side. Cut ribbon in half. Loop through 2 metal rings and through bone ring at top. Sew ends together. Attach other half of ribbon to other side of bag in same way.
