Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Yarn over, insert hook between first 2 dc, bring it out between next and following dc, * pull loop through, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice; yarn over, insert hook between same 2 dc where hook was brought out, bring it out between next 2 dc, pull loop through, yarn over and complete as for a dc, dc in next dc, yarn over, insert hook between this and next dc, bring it out between that and following dc. Repeat from * across, making last dc in top st of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: * Dc in next 2 dc, yarn over, insert hook between last and next dc, bring it out between that and following dc, draw loop through and complete as for a dc. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in last 2 dc, dc in top st of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 20 inches, ending with 3rd row. Ch 3, turn.
LEFT FRONT … 1st row: Work in pattern across 54 sts. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: (Inner edge) * Yarn over, (insert hook in next dc and pull loop through) twice; yarn over and draw through 3 loops, yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops (1 dc decreased). Repeat from * once more (another dc decreased). Continue in pattern across remaining sts of Left Front. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Work in pattern across to last 2 dc and turning chain, work off the 2 dc as before, do not work in the turning chain (2 dc decreased). Ch 3, turn. RIGHT FRONT … Attach yarn in next dc, ch 3 and work in pattern across remaining 53 sts (54 sts, counting starting chain). Dec 2 dc at inner edge on each row until 36 sts remain. Break off.
HOOD—Back Piece … Starting at top edge, ch 27 to measure 4½ inches. Work 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows same as Bunting. Then dec 1 dc at both ends of each row until 1 dc remains. Break off.
FRONT PIECE … Starting at front edge, ch 87 to measure 14½ inches. Work in pattern same as Bunting until piece measures 6 inches. Break off.
Sew back edge of front piece of hood along entire outer edge of back piece. Starting at inner edges and working toward center, sew curved edges of bunting together, leaving 2½ inches free on each side of front and 5 inches free at back of neck (neck opening). Sew lower edge of hood to neck opening. Bind front edges of bunting and hood with ribbon. Sew lower edges of bunting together. Sew ribbon-bound edges together for 9 inches, starting at bottom of bunting. Close remainder of opening with hooks and eyes sewed on wrong side.
