Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 20 or 30; or Pearl Cotton, size 5. 1 shuttle and the ball.

Tumbler Doily: Center ring, 1 d s, 6 p's separated by 2 d s, 1 d s, close and tie. 1st rnd: Tie ends of shuttle and ball threads. R, 3 d s, p, 3 d s, join to center ring, 3 d s, p, 3 d s, close. On ball thread make ch of 4 d s, p, 2 d s, p, 2 d s, p, 4 d s. (With the exception of the center ring, all rings and chs are the same throughout.) R, 3 d s, join to side ring, 3 d s, join to center ring, 3 d s, p, 3 d s, close. Make second ch same as first and continue around to form circle (6 rings). After each round is completed, tie off.

2nd rnd: R, 3 d s, p, 3 d s, join the 1st p of initial ch, 3 d s, p, 3 d s, close. On ball thread make ch of 4 d s, p, 2 d s, p, 2 d s, p, 4 d s. R, 3 d s, p, 3 d s, join to 3rd p of initial ch, 3 d s, p, 3 d s, close. Continue around to form circle (12 rings). 3rd rnd: Attach rings to 1st and 3rd p of initial ch and only 1 ring to center p of next ch. Continue around circle making 18 rings with ch between each.

Salad Doily: Make first 3 rounds same as tumbler doily. 4th rnd: Attach rings to 1st and 3rd p of initial ch and 1 ring to center p of the next 2 chs. Continue around circle making 24 rings and chs.

5th rnd: Attach rings to 1st and 3rd p of initial ch and 1 ring to center p of next 3 chs, making 30 rings and chs.

Bread and Butter Doily: Make first 5 rounds same as salad doily. 6th rnd: Attach rings to 1st and 3rd p of initial ch, and 1 ring to center p of each of next 4 ch. Continue around circle making 36 rings with ch between each.

Plate Doily: Same as bread and butter doily for first 6 rounds. 7th rnd: Attach rings to 1st and 3rd p of initial ch; 1 ring to center p of each of next 2 chs; 1 ring to 1st and 3rd p of 4th ch. Continue around circle making 48 rings with ch between each.
