Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "PURITAN" MERCERIZED CROCHET AND KNITTING COTTON, ARTICLE 40
3—160 yd. Balls Yellow and
"STAR" PEARL COTTON, ARTICLE 90, SIZE 5
4—50 yd. Balls Blue will make Jar, Plate and Teapot Holders.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

Work first 51 rows same as jar potholder.
52nd and 53rd Rows—Decrease 1 pattern at beginning and end of each row (10 patterns left).
Next 5 Rows—Work even in pattern, ch 1, turn.
Next Row—1 s c in each s c (20 s c) ch 1, turn.
Next Row—1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.
Next 4 Rows—Decrease 1 s c at beginning and end of each row.
Next Row—Decrease 1st s c, s c in next s c, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 4 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, s c in next st, break thread.
Work another section in same manner.
SPOUT. With Yellow, ch 2, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row—1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row—Working in s c, increase 1 s c at end of row, ch 1, turn.
4th Row—Increase 1 s c at beginning of row, ch 1, turn.
5th Row—Same as 3rd row, ch 2, turn.
6th Row—S d c in same space, 1 d c in next st, 1 s c in each of the next 3 sts, ch 1, turn.
7th Row—1 s c in each of the next 3 sts, s d c in next st, 2 s d c in last st, ch 2, turn.
8th Row—1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 4 sts, ch 1, turn.
9th Row—1 s c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 2 d c in end st, ch 1, turn.
10th Row—1 s c in each st, break Yellow.
11th Row—With Blue, ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 2 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 s c in each of the next 2 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, 2 s c in end st, ch 2, turn. Work 9 rows even in pattern same as on large section, break Blue.
21st Row—Attach Yellow, 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 1 s c in next ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 1 s c in next ch 1, 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in last s c, ch 2, turn.
22nd Row—S d c in same space, 1 s c in each remaining st decreasing 1 s c at end of row, ch 1 turn.
23rd Row—Decrease 1 s c at beginning of row, 1 s c in each s c, increasing 1 s c at end of row, ch 1, turn. Work 2 rows even in s c.
26th, 27th and 28th Rows—Working in s c decrease 1 s c at beginning and end of each row, ch 1, turn.
29th Row—* Insert needle in next st, pull through, repeat from * once, thread over and pull through all loops on needle at one time, break thread. Work another spout in same manner.
HANDLE: Ch 38 and work same as jar handle.
With Yellow and working on top section embroider flowers in the Blue band same as on jar.
Sew spout to each section.
With Blue, outline lid as illustrated. With Blue, crochet the 2 sections together same as jar holder.
With Blue, cover a bone ring with s c and attach to holder.
