MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 2 balls.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 8.
1½ yards of ribbon, 1½ inches wide.
Wind thread into 4 equal balls.

Use 4 threads throughout.

CROWN … Starting at tip, ch 4. Join. 1st rnd: 10 sc in ring. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd and 4th rnds: Sc in each sc around. At end of 4th rnd sl st in next st. 5th rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each sc around. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch-3. 6th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in each dc around. 7th and 8th rnds: Sc in each sc around. After 8th rnd make sl st in next st. 9th rnd: Ch 3, dc in each sc around. 10th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in next 7 dc, 3 sc in next dc, sc in next 22 dc, 3 sc in next dc, sc in next 8 dc. 11th and 12th rnds: * Sc in each sc to within center sc of 3 sc-group, 3 sc in center sc. Repeat from * once more; sc in each sc to end of rnd. At end of 12th rnd sl st in next sc. 13th rnd: Ch 3, * dc in each sc to within center sc of 3 sc-group, 3 dc in center sc. Repeat from * once more. Dc in each sc to end of rnd. 14th rnd: Repeat the 11th rnd.
   Repeat the last 4 rnds (11th to 14th rnds incl) once more. Then work 3 rnds of sc without increasing. Break off.

BRIM … 1st row: Skip 12 sc counting from where thread was broken off; attach thread (4 threads) to next sc, ch 3, * 2 dc in next sc, dc in next sc. Repeat from * across to within last 12 sc. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each dc across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd and 4th rows: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1 to turn at end of 3rd row and ch 3 to turn at end of 4th row. 5th row: Dc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
   Repeat the last 4 rows until 12 rows in all are made. Break off.
   Make a tuck at center front of Brim and tack to Crown. Finish both short ends of Brim in the same way. Make 2 bows with ribbon and sew one at each end of Brim.
