Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" RUG YARN, Article 44
2-80 yd. Skeins Wine or any Color desired.
14 yds. of Cream or any Contrasting Color.
1 Pr. Inner Soles.
Bone Crochet Hook #6.
With Color work soles # 2. Ch 20 for size 11—Ch 22 for size 12 and ch 24 for size 13.
Directions as given for size 11.
Sew soles together with Contrasting Color, inserting inner sole if desired.
Directions for upper sections are given for size 11, sizes 12 and 13 are given in brackets.
Right side of toe—With Wine, ch 12, 3 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 9 sts, 3 s c in last st, ch 1 to turn each row.
2nd & 3rd Rows—Working in the back loop of st only, 3 s c in 1st s c, 1 s c in each remaining s c, with 3 s c in last sc.
4th Row—2 s c in 1st and last s c, 1 s c in each remaining s c, break yarn.
5th Row—Attach Contrasting Color, work 1 s c in each s c, break yarn.
6th Row—With Wine, work 1 s c in each s c.
7th Row—1 s c in each of the 1st 14 s c, break yarn.
Left side of toe, work 6 rows same as right side, break yarn. Attach yarn in 12th s c, ch 1, 1 s c in same space with joining, 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c, do not break yarn. Place the 2 sections together and working over the last 14 s c of each section and over both loops, crochet them together with a row of s c, break yarn. With right side of work towards you, attach yarn in 1st s c of 6th row, working over both loops, 1 s c in each of the 11 s c, 4 s c over the 2 rows, 1 s c in each of the 11 s c on opposite side, break yarn.
Heel—With Wine, ch 12, (14-16) work 3 rows the same as side of toe.
4th Row—2 s c in 1st s c, 1 s c in each remaining s c, with 2 s c in last s c.
5th Row—1 s c in each s c, break yarn.
6th Row—Attach Contrasting Color and work 1 s c in each s c, break yarn.
7th & 8th Rows—With Wine, work 1 s c in each s c, break yarn. Sew side toe sections to sole, leaving 16 or 17 s c of heel free. Sew heel section to back of sole lapping it over side sections about 1 inch.
