Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED
, Article W11
1-1 ¼ oz. Skein Flame or any Color desired.
1-1 ¼ oz. Skein White.
Bone Crochet Hook #4.

SOLES—Work soles #1.

Work 1 section of sole in Flame and 1 in White. With White, crochet the 2 soles together with a row of s c having the Flame sole towards you. Insert an inner sole if desired, break yarn.

UPPER SECTIONS—Directions are given for size 7, sizes 5 and 9 are given in brackets. With Flame, ch 77, (75-79) and work 76, (74-78) s c on ch, ch 1 to turn each row. (Remainder of slipper is worked in the back loop of st only). Insert needle in 1st s c, draw loop through, insert needle in next s c, draw loop through, yarn over and pull through the 3 loops on needle, ch 1, (this completes a pattern) work 37, (36-38) more patterns, do not break yarn, drop Flame.

3rd Row—Attach White, start decreasing for toe, skip the ch 1, * insert needle in next st, draw loop through, insert needle in next ch 1, draw loop through, yarn over and pull through the 3 loops on needle, ch 1, repeat from * 35 times, (34-36) then insert needle in next st, draw loop through, insert needle in next ch 1, draw loop through, insert needle in next st, draw loop through, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on needle, ch 1, thus decreasing ½ pattern at the beginning and end of row.

4th Row—Work the same as 3rd row, do not break yarn. Pick up Flame and work 2 rows same as 3rd row, drop Flame, pick up White and work 2 rows in White.

9th Row—Pick up Flame, * skip the 1st st, 1 s c in next st, repeat from * 3 times, then work 24, (23-25) patterns omitting the ch 1 after each pattern, then work 4 s c skipping 1 st between each s c, break yarn.

Fold slipper and starting at the 4th s c from the beginning and end of last row, sew toe together being careful to match rows. With right side of work toward you, sew upper sections to soles with Flame, having White sole to inside, sewing through the loops of 1st row of upper section and last row of sole. Attach Flame in the last row at top of slipper, insert needle in st, draw loop through, insert needle in next st, draw loop through, yarn over and pull through the 3 loops on needle, * insert needle in same space with last st, draw loop through, insert needle in next st, draw loop through, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, repeat from * all around, join, break yarn.

TIES—With White, ch 90, break yarn.

Use remainder of wool for 4 Pompons.

Lace tie through top of slipper and sew pompons in position.
