This free pattern originally published by Clark's O.N.T. J&P Coats as Bags, Book 228.

MATERIALS: CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 8 balls (1 oz. balls) of White ... Bone Crochet Hook No. 5 ... ⅓ yard each of felt and buckram ... 2 bone rings, 4 inches in diameter.

GAUGE: 3 clusters make 2 inches; 2 rows make 1 inch.

BAG PIECE ••• Starting at top, ch 50. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: * Holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make 4 dc in next sc, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook – a cluster made – ch 1, skip 1 sc. Repeat from * across, ending with a cluster in last sc. Ch 1, turn (25 clusters). 3rd row: * Sc in tip of next cluster, sc in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in tip of 1st cluster. Ch 3, turn (49 sc). Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until there are 22 cluster rows, ending with the 3rd row. Break off.

Cut lining and buckram to correspond with Bag Piece and sew in place. Fold Bag Piece in half and join sides by working a row of sc through both thicknesses from fold to top and across 1 inch. Make a 1 inch pleat 2 inches in from each top joining on each side of Bag Piece. Push lower corner of each fold in for 1 inch to form Gussets and tack.

TAB (Make 6) ••• Ch 11. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Break off.

Insert a ring between ends of 3 Tabs and sew ends evenly across one side of bag at top. Sew other Tabs and ring to correspond. Sew a snap fastener at center.
