Mother and Daughter Scotch Caps Pattern #PC-1317

MATERIALS:
Chadwick's Red Heart Knitting Worsted, 4 balls (1 oz. balls) for the 2 caps.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 8.
2 yards of 1 inch ribbon, for both caps. 2 feathers.

Use double strand throughout.

MOTHER'S CAP

   Starting at tip of Crown, ch 7. 1st rnd: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, then work along opposite side of starting chain to correspond (12 sc). 2nd rnd: * 3 sc in next sc, sc in each sc across to curved end. Repeat from * once more. 3rd rnd: Sc in next sc, 3 sc in center sc of 3 sc-group (back of Cap), sc in each sc to next 3 sc, then make 2 sc in next 3 sc (this is front of Cap). 4th rnd: Sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in center sc (back of Cap), sc in each sc to next increase, 2 sc in next 6 sc (front of Cap), sc in each sc to end of rnd. 5th to 16th rnds incl: Sc in each sc to center sc of 3 sc-group at back of Cap, 3 sc in center sc, sc in each sc around. 17th and 18th rnds: Sc in each sc around. 19th rnd: Ch 4, * skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-1 with sl st to 3rd ch of ch-4. Break off.
   Place Cap on head and make a dent on Crown. Pin fold in place and make 2 long stitches on each side to hold it in shape. Run ribbon through last row and make a bow, leaving long ends free. Sew on feather.

DAUGHTER'S CAP

   Start with ch-5 instead of ch-7 and work exactly as for Mother's Cap (8 sc in 1st rnd instead of 12 sc) until 14 rnds are completed. Finish to correspond with Mother's Cap.
