Jack Frost Sport Yarn—4 2-oz. Balls
TO MAKE DAISIES: Hold winder in left hand, flat side toward you. With left thumb hold Knitting Worsted across center of winder leaving end extend about 1 inch beyond center. With right hand wind yarn twice around 2 spokes directly opposite, * twice around next 2 opposite spokes; repeat from * until 2 threads are on each spoke. Cut yarn 2 inches from center. Thread a needle with Sport Yarn and fasten yarn in center. Insert needle under 3 petals, * draw yarn thru tightly, bring yarn back over the last 2 petals, insert needle under 3 petals; repeat from * until 13 sts are made. Fasten yarn in center on wrong side (side toward you is wrong side). Cut threads close to center.
TO JOIN DAISIES: Make a loop on Steel Hook No. 3 with Sport Yarn. Work 1 sc in a petal, ch 3, 1 sc in next petal. (Ch 7, 1 sl st in last sc)—This is a picot. (Ch 3, 1 sc in next petal) three times. Ch 7, 1 sl st in the last sc, ch 3, 1 sc in the next petal. Add 2nd Daisy with a sc in a petal, ch 3, 1 sc in 2nd petal, ch 3 for picot, join with sl st to top of last picot on 1st Daisy, ch 3, sl st in last sc (Ch 3, 1 sc in next petal 3 times). Ch 7 for picot, sl st into last sc. Ch 3, 1 sc in next petal of 2nd Daisy. Add next Daisies same as 2nd Daisy until required length. Second Side of First Row: Ch 3, 1 sc in the 7th petal of last Daisy, ch 3, 1 sc in the 8th petal, ch 7 for picot, sl st in last sc on 8th petal, (ch 3, 1 sc in next petal) 3 times, ch 7, sl st in last sc, ch 3, 1 sc in last petal of 1st Daisy *, 1 sc in next loose petal of next Daisy, ch 3, 1 sc in next petal, ch 3, join with sl st to top of last picot, ch 3, 1 sl st in the last sc, (ch 3, 1 sc in next petal) 3 times, ch 7, sl st in last sc, ch 3, 1 sc in next petal; repeat from * across row, ending with a tr c in 1st petal of 1st Daisy, ch 3, turn. Sl st in last sc, ch 3, sl st on top of last picot. Second Row of Daisies: Ch 3, 1 sc in a petal of a Daisy, ch 3, 1 sc in next petal, ch 3, 1 sl st in top of next picot, * ch 3, 1 sl st in last sc in 2nd petal of this new Daisy, ch 3, 1 sc in next petal, sl st in sc of next petal on Daisy of last row, ch 3, 1 sc in 4th petal of the new Daisy, sl st in the next petal of the Daisy of last row, ch 3, 1 sc in 5th petal of the new Daisy, ch 3, sl st in the joining of the 2 picots between the 2nd Daisy of last row, ch 3, 1 sl st in sc on 5th petal of Daisy of 2nd row, ch 3, 1 sc in 6th petal. Take up another Daisy, work 1 sc in a petal, ch 3, 1 sc in next petal, ch 3, 1 sl st in top of the 3 picots tog; repeat from * across row.
Work same as 2nd side of 1st row. Work in this manner until size required.
CARRIAGE COVER: Make 180 Daisies. Join as described above and illustrated.
Border: Attach Knitting Worsted, ch 3. Row 1—Work 2 dc in each space, 3 dc in each corner, around entire cover. Join with sl st, ch 3. Row 2—1 dc in each st, 3 dc in corner. Row 3—Repeat Row 2.
Edging: Starting on 3rd st from corner, work 1 sc *, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, ch 3, sl st in 1st ch (this makes a picot), 1 dc in same as last dc, 1 picot, 1 dc in same as last dc, 1 picot, 1 dc in same as last dc, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st; repeat from * around entire cover. Fasten off.
PILLOW: Make 30 Daisies. Join as described for cover and illustrated.
Border and Edging: Same as cover.
SACQUE: Yoke—With No. 2 Bone Hook and Sport Yarn, ch 48. Work 9 rows of dc. Next Row—Work over 14 sts for shoulder. Increase 1 st on neck edge every row for 9 rows. Fasten off. Omit 18 sts for back of neck. Attach yarn and work other side to correspond. Join at underarms with a ch of 8. Make 52 Daisies. Join 13 in 1 row for 4 rows. Sew on to yoke.
Sleeves: Make 24 Daisies. Join 4 Daisies in 1 row for 3 rows. Sew onto armhole.
Cuffs: Work 5 rows of sc.
Around neck work sc with a picot on every 4th st.
CAP: Make 18 Daisies. Join 6 daisies in 1 row for 2 rows. Add 2 Daisies to 2 center Daisies for 3 rows. Crochet sides of 3 rows to 2 Daisies on sides with sc.
Neck Band: Work 1 row of sc, 1 st in each space, 2 rows of sc, st for st.
Front: 3 rows of sc, st for st, and fasten off.
