Ch 67. Row 1—Draw yarn thru 2nd ch from hook, skip 1 ch, draw yarn thru next ch, draw yarn thru 3 loops on hook, ch 1 *, draw yarn thru same st as previous loop, skip 1 st, draw yarn thru next st, draw yarn thru 3 loops on hook, ch 1; repeat from * across row, ending 1 sc in last st, ch 1, turn. Row 2-—Draw yarn thru 1st st, skip 1 st, draw yarn thru next st, draw yarn thru 3 loops on hook, ch 1 *, draw yarn thru same st as last loop, skip 1 st, draw yarn thru next st, draw yarn thru 3 loops on hook, ch 1; repeat from * across row, ending with 1 sc in last st. Repeat Row 2 for 4 inches. Fasten off. Omit 1st 11 star sts, attach yarn, work back and forth over next 11 star sts for 6 inches. Fasten off. Crochet sides of this piece to omitted star sts with sc. Work shell st over top.
Neck Band: Work 1 row of sc, skipping every 3rd st. Work 4 rows of sc, st for st. Fasten off.
Front Edging: Attach yarn to 4th row of star st, work 1 sc, *, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st; repeat from * across row. Fasten off. Trim with pompoms as illustrated.
