MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 2 balls of White, or 4 balls of any color.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 6.
18 inches of millinery wire.
A quill.

Use 4 threads throughout.

Starting at center, ch 4. Join. 1st rnd: 10 sc in ring; sl st in 1st sc. 2nd rnd: Ch 4, * dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * around ending with ch 1, sl st in 3rd st of ch-4. 3rd rnd: Ch 1, sc in sl st, * 2 sc in next sp, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around ending with sc in last ch-1 sp. 4th rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (60 sc); sl st in 1st sc. 5th rnd: Ch 4, * skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * around ending with ch 1, sl st in 3rd st of ch-4. 6th rnd: Ch 1, sc in sl st, * sc in next sp, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around ending with sc in last ch-1 sp. 7th rnd: Sc in each sc around. Overlap wire so that it measures 5 inches in diameter and tie ends securely. 8th rnd: Holding wire at top of last rnd and working over it in order to conceal it, make sc in each sc around. 9th rnd: Still working over wire, make sc between each sc around. 10th and 11th rnds: Sc in each sc around. 12th rnd: Sc in each of the next 10 sc (center back), ch 4, (skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1) 23 times; skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 4, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc (23 ch-1 sps and 2 ch-4 sps). 13th rnd: Sl st in each of the next 10 sc, 4 sc in next ch-4 sp, (sc in next dc, sc in next sp) 23 times; sc in next dc, 4 sc in next ch-4 sp, sl st in next sc. 14th rnd: Sc in same places where each of the next 10 sl sts were made, sc in each sc to next sl st, sc where next sl st was made. 15th rnd: Sl st in each of the next 13 sc, ch 4 (skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1) 23 times; skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 4, skip 1 sc, sl st in each of the next 4 sc. 16th rnd: Sc in same places where each of the next 13 sl sts were made, 6 sc in next ch-4 sp, sc in each sc to next ch-4 sp, 6 sc in ch-4 sp, sc in same places where next 4 sl sts were made. 17th rnd: Sc in each sc around. Sl st in last sc. Break off. Sew quill in place.
