MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 1 ball each of White and No. 70 Blue Jewel.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

A doll 8 inches tall, chest 4 ½ inches.

SKIRT ... Starting at waist with Blue Jewel, ch 33. 1st row: Tr in 5th ch from hook, 2 tr in each remaining ch across. Ch 4, turn.

Now work in rnds as follows: 1st rnd: Skip first tr, tr in each tr around. Join with sl st to top of ch-4. 2nd rnd: Ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, 2 tr in each tr around. Join. 3rd to 8th rnds incl: Ch 4, tr in each tr around. Join and break off.

BODICE ... Attach Blue to first ch on opposite side of starting chain. 1st row: Sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd to 6th rows incl: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 7th and 8th rows: Sc in each sc across, increasing 4 sc evenly across on each row—to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc (38 sc on last row). Ch 1, turn. 9th row: Sc in first 6 sc, ch 10, skip next 8 sc (armhole), sc in next 10 sc, ch 10, skip next 8 sc (armhole), sc in last 6 sc. Ch 1, turn.

YOKE ... 1st row: Sc in each sc and in. each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd to 6th rows incl: Sc in each sc across, decreasing 4 sc on each row—to dec 1 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc. Break off at end of 6th row.

SLEEVE ... Attach Blue Jewel to armhole at underarm. 1st rnd: 2 sc in each st around. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each sc around. Join. 3rd to 7th rnds incl: Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join. 8th rnd: Ch 3, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, dc in next 2 dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), * make a 3 dc cluster over next 3 dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

CUFF ... 1st rnd: Attach White to tip of any cluster, sc in same place, sc in tip of each cluster around. Join. 2nd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd and 4th rnds: * Sc in next loop, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off at end of 4th rnd. Work other Sleeve the same way.

COLLAR ... Starting at neck edge with White, ch 25. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * 2 sc in next ch, sc in next 3 ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd to 7th rows incl: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 7th row. Now work a row of ch-3 loops around outer edges of Collar. Break off.

APRON TIE ... With White make a chain 11 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off.

APRON ... 1st row: Mark off center 13 sc on Tie, attach White to first sc marked, 2 sc in each of the 13 sc marked. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first sc, dc in each sc across. Ch 3, turn. 3rd to 7th rows incl: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across and in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Break off at end of 7th row. Now work a row of sc closely around outer edge of Apron, ch 1, turn, and make a row of ch-3 loops around edge, skipping 1 sc between each loop.

HAT ... With White, ch 4. 1st rnd: 14 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each dc around. Join. 4th and 5th rnds: Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join. 6th rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, * dec 1 sc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 7th rnd: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join. 8th rnd: Ch 3, 2 dc in first sc, 3 dc in each remaining sc. Join. 9th rnd: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join. 10th rnd: Ch 1, sc in first sc, * ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

Sew a snap fastener to Collar and 3 snap fasteners to Bodice.
