MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 2 balls of No. 181 Shaded Lt. Yellows and 1 ball of No. 48 Hunter's Green.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

A doll 11 inches tall, chest 5 ½ inches.

DRESS—Peplum ... Starting at waist with Shaded Lt. Yellows, ch 45 to reach around doll's waist. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, * dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: In first dc make 2 tr, ch 3 and 3 tr; * ch 4, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 4, skip 2 dc, in next dc make 3 tr, ch 3 and 3 tr (shell made). Repeat from * across, ending with a sl st in first shell.

Now work in rnds as follows: 1st rnd: Ch 7, make a shell in ch-3 loop (shell over shell made), * ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 4, shell over next shell. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 4, sl st in 3rd ch of ch-7. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Repeat first rnd. 4th rnd: Work as for last rnd, having ch-5 in center of each shell. Break off.

SKIRT ... 1st rnd: Attach Yellow to first free chain on 2nd rnd and, working in back of shells, * sc in next 3 ch, sc in back loop of next 3 tr, ch 3, sc in back loop of next 3 tr, sc in next 3 ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch of next sp. Repeat from * around. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 7, * in next ch-3 loop make 3 tr, ch 5 and 3 tr; ch 4, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 4. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd rnd: Ch 7, * in ch-5 loop make (3 tr, ch 3) twice and 3 tr; ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 4. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: Ch 7, * shell in ch-3 loop, ch 1, shell in next ch-3 loop, ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 4. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th rnd: Ch 8, * shell over shell, ch 1, dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, shell over shell, ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sl st in 3rd ch of ch-8. 6th and 7th rnds: Ch 8, * shell over shell, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, shell over shell, ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join. 8th, 9th and 10th rnds: Ch 8, * shell over shell, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, shell over shell, ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join. 11th rnd: Ch 8, * in ch-3 sp make 3 tr, ch 5 and 3 tr; ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, in next ch-3 sp make 3 tr, ch 5 and 3 tr; ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

BODICE ... 1st row: Attach Yel­low to opposite side of starting chain at waist, ch 3, dc in next ch, work off 2 dc's as one dc (1 dc decreased), dc in each ch across to within last 3 ch, dec 1 dc, dc in next ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip first dc, dc in next 16 dc, 5 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 5 dc in next dc, dc in each remaining dc. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 8 dc for left side of back. Ch 3, turn. 6th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, half dc in next 3 dc, sc in last 2 dc. Break off. Now work right side of back to correspond. Break off. Sew snap fas­teners to back.

PETAL FOR TOP OF BODICE (Make 6) ... 1st row: With Shaded Lt. Yellows, ch 5, 5 tr in 5th ch from hook. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in first tr, 2 tr in next tr, 2 d tr in next tr, 2 tr in next tr, 2 dc in last st. Break off. Sew two petals together and sew a third petal in the center of the two previous petals on one side of Bodice. Complete other side to correspond. Attach Yellow to center of petal near­est armhole, ch 12, sl st in back for shoulder strap. Break off. Make other strap the same way.

HAT ... With Shaded Lt. Yellows, ch 42. Join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 4, tr in each ch around. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 6, * skip 2 tr, in next tr make 3 tr, ch 3 and 3 tr; ch 3, skip 2 tr, dc in next tr, ch 3. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch of ch-6. 3rd, 4th and 5th rnds: Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds of Peplum.

EDGING ... Attach Hunter's Green to center ch of any shell on Peplum, make 2 sc in same place, * sc in each st around, making 3 sc in center ch of each shell. Join and break off.

Make Edging on Skirt and Hat the same way. Attach Hunter's Green to bodice and sc closely around. Break off.

Sew 2 small snap fasteners to back of Bodice. Cut a piece of narrow green grosgrain ribbon 24 inches long and tie into a bow around waist for sash. Cut another piece of ribbon 12 inches long. Tie into a bow and sew to back of hat.
