Shoe Potholder Pattern #3222

Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"STAR" PEARL COTTON, SIZE 5
3 60-yd. Balls White.
1 60-yd. Ball Red.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 5 or 6.

With White, work first 13 rows the same as No. 3221.
14th Row—1 s c in each s c, decreasing 1 s c at end of row.
15th Row—Decrease 1 st at beginning of row, 1 s c in each remaining s c.
Repeat the last 2 rows.
18th Row—1 s c in each of the first 25 s c, ch 1, turn.
19th Row—1 s c in each of the 25 s c.
20th Row—1 s c in each of the first 23 s c, decreasing one st at end of row.
21st Row—1 s c in each s c.
22nd Row—1 s c in each s c decreasing 1st at end of row.
23rd Row—Ch 4, skip 2 s c, d c in next s c, * ch 2, skip 2 s c, d c in next s c, repeat from * to end of row, break thread. Work another section in same manner.
Crochet the two sections together. Join White at back of slipper in last d c, work 2 s c in d c, 1 s c in each of the next 10 rows joining the 2 sections, then over 1 section only work 1 s c in each row, 2 s c in last row. Working over the entire st at lower edge of slipper, work 1 s c over each s c, at toe, work 1 s c in each of the next 10 rows, then join the two sections together and work down the opposite toe and across lower edge and up back to the joining, break thread.
Join 2 strands of Red at toe joining and work 1 s c in one section, then 1 s c in opposite section, 1 s c in first section, 1 s c in opposite section. Keep on working 1 s c in first section, then one s c in opposite section until all rows of toe are worked together, continue across top of slipper in same manner until slipper is joined to top of beading, break thread.
TIE. With 2 strands—Ch about 15 inches, work 1 s c in each ch. Run through beading and tie in a bow. Sew bow in place. Work heel same as shoe No. 3221.
