Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"PURITAN" MERCERIZED CROCHET
AND KNITTING COTTON
112 yds. White.
"STAR" PEARL COTTON, SIZE 5
1 60-yd. Ball Red or any contrasting Color desired.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

With White, ch 66, d c in 9th st from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 chs, d c in next ch, repeat from * across row, ch 5, turn.
2nd Row—D c in d c, * ch 2, d c in next d c, repeat from * 16 times, ch 2, skip 2 chs, d c in next ch, ch 5, turn.
Repeat 2nd row 18 times, break thread.
The pattern is darned in using 4 strands of thread by working 2 rows cross-wise through each mesh working over 1 d c and under the next, reversing the over and under in the 2nd row of each mesh. Darn 3 meshes in White, 2 meshes Red, 2 meshes White, 1 mesh Red, 1 mesh White, 2 meshes Red, 1 mesh White, 1 mesh Red, 2 meshes White, 2 meshes Red and 3 meshes White.
Work another section in same manner. With White, crochet the 2 sections together with a row of s c. Finish with a loop as follows: ch 20, sl st in same st, turn and cover loop with s c, break thread.
