Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"STAR" PEARL COTTON, SIZE 5
3 60-yd. Balls Yellow.
10 yds. Green.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

With Yellow, ch 55, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining ch, ch 3, turn.
2nd & 3rd Rows—1 d c in each d c, ch 3, turn.
4th Row—4 d c in next d c, drop loop from hook, insert in 1st d c and pull loop through, ch 1 to tighten st (a popcorn st), 1 d c in next d c, * 4 d c popcorn st in next d c, 1 d c in next d c, repeat from * across row ending with 1 d c, ch 1, turn.
5th Row—1 s c in each d c and 1 s c in each popcorn st, ch 3, turn and repeat the 4th and 5th rows 15 times, ch 3, turn.
Next Row—1 d c in each popcorn st and 1 d c in each d c.
Next 2 Rows—1 d c in each d c.
Next Row—1 s c in every 3rd st, break thread leaving an end. Thread into needle and draw together with a running st. Work a row of s c across each side. Attach thread at lower edge and work 1 s c in every 3rd st, turn and work 1 s c in every other st, break thread leaving an end. Thread into needle and draw together same as top.
LEAVES. With Green, ch 23, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 2 chs, 1 s d c in each of the next 3 chs, (s d c: thread over, insert in st, pull through and work off all loops at one time) 1 d c in each of the next 3 chs, 1 tr c in each of the next 5 chs, 1 d c in each of the next 4 chs, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 chs, 1 s c in each of the next 2 chs, break thread leaving an end to sew. Work 5 more leaves in same manner and sew to top of corn as illustrated, tacking each leaf in position.
LOOP. With Green, wrap around 2 fingers 3 times, then cover loop with s c and sew to top of corn, For more weight, line with material.
