MATERIALS:
CLARK'S O.N.T. "BRITA-SHEEN," 15 balls.
MILWARD'S Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

GAUGE … Each motif measures 5 inches across center, from picot to picot, before blocking. For a tablecloth about 60 x 80 inches, make 11 x 15 motifs.

FIRST MOTIF … Starting at center, ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 s c in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rnds. 2nd rnd: 2 s c in each s c around. 3rd rnd: * S c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c. Repeat from * around. 4th to 8th rnds incl: S c in each s c around, increasing 6 s c in each rnd, having increases directly over previous increases (48 s c on 8th rnd). Sl st in next s c. 9th rnd: * Ch 5, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, d c in sl st.

   10th and 11th rnds: * Ch 5, s c in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, d c in d c of previous rnd. 12th and 13th rnds: Same as 11th rnd, making ch-6 loops (instead of ch-5) and ending with ch 3, d c in d c. 14th rnd: * Ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 8, s c in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 7, s c in d c. 15th rnd: * 5 s c in next loop. In next loop make 2 s c, ch 3, s c in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), 2 s c, p, 2 s c, p, 2 s c. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in 1st s c. Fasten off. This completes one motif.

SECOND MOTIF … Work as for first motif to within 2nd p on 15th rnd. Ch 1, s c in a corresponding p on first motif, ch 1, complete p on second motif, and continue rnd as for first motif, joining 2nd p of next ch-8 loop to corresponding p on first motif.
   Make 11 x 15 motifs, joining all motifs as second was joined to first, leaving four ch-8 loops free on each side of joining.

FILL-IN LACE … Starting at center, ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 s c in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rnds. 2nd rnd: 2 s c in each s c around (12 s c in rnd). Sl st in next s c. 3rd rnd: Ch 8, sl st in center p of free loop of one motif, * s c in each ch across, s c in next s c of center, ch 11, sl st in free p on next loop of same motif (preceding joining), s c in each ch across, s c in next s c of center, ch 11, sl st in next free p on next loop of next motif (following joining). S c in each ch across, s c in next s c of center, ch 8, sl st in center p of next free loop of same motif. Repeat from * around. Join and fasten off. Fill in all sps between joinings in same way.

Block cloth to measure 60 x 80 inches.
