Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton, 3 balls of color 55 Navy Blue; or J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 3. Two blue ball buttons.

The Stitch: To make Clones Knot, thread over, insert hook in next st, draw out a loop ¼ inch long, thread over, insert hook in same st, draw out another loop, thread over, insert hook in same st, draw out another loop (7 loops on hook), thread over and draw through 6 loops, thread over and draw through the 2 loops on hook.

Use thread double throughout. Starting at bottom of bag, make a ch 8½ inches long. S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each st of ch, 3 s c in last st of ch. Continue making s c's along other side of ch, 3 s c at end, ch 2. 2nd rnd: * Make a Clones knot, s c in next st. Repeat from * around. 3rd rnd: S c in each s c, and s c in each Clones knot. 4th to 29th rnds incl: Alternate 2nd and 3rd rnds.

Flap: Work back and forth across half of bag, making 6 rows of Clones knots, alternated with s c rows. End with s c row. Sew on buttons and make loops to correspond—making ch correct length, and into ch working a row of sl sts.
