LILY DOUBLE QUICK, Art. 50, in Black: 2 skeins

No. 3 Steel Crochet Hook.

10 plastic rings, 1 inch size.

No. 2-TRIVET (Size-6 x 8 ¾ inches):-Illustrated on front cover at left.

CENTER: Ch 2, 8 sc in 2d ch from hook, join with sl st to back lp of 1st sc.

RND 2: Ch 5, tr in same st, * ch 4, holding back the last lp of each tr on hook make 2 tr in back lp of next sc, Y 0 and draw thru all 3 lps on hook at the same time; repeat from * 6 times, ch 4, join to 1st tr. Fasten off. Make a 2d piece but do not cut. Lay 2d piece on top of 1st and working over both pieces, make 7 sc in each sp around; join and fasten off.

* Attach to one plastic ring, ch 1, 32 sc in ring, join, cut and sew by 2 sc between 2 sps on Center. Repeat from * around. Sew 8 Rings tog. where they touch.

BORDER: Attach to 7th free sc on one Ring, sc in next 6 sc, (ch 8, sc in center 6 sc on next Ring) repeated around; join to 1st sc.

RND 2: Ch 1, sc at base of same sc, sc at base of next 5 sc, no sc in next sp, sc at base of next 6 sc) repeated around; join.

RND 3: Repeat Rnd 2 working over the sc in that rnd; join to back lp of 1st sc.

HANDLE: Ch 1, sc in same sc, sc in back lp of next 5 sc, turn, sc in remaining lp of same 6 sc.

RNDS 2 & 3: Working in back lps only, sc in 12 sc around and around for 2 rnds.

RND 4: * Inc. 2 sc evenly (to inc, make 2 sc in 1 sc).

RNDS 5 thru 7: 1 sc in each sc around for 3 rnds. Repeat from * twice (thru Rnd 15). Ending on right side, sl st in next sc, slip a ring in end of Handle, 28 sc in ring, sl st in other side of Handle. Fasten off. Sew 2 halves of end of Handle tog. over bottom of ring.

EDGE: Attach to 1st sc to left of Handle, * ch 5, sl st in 2d ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make 2 dc in next ch, Y 0 and draw thru all 3 lps on hook at the same time, sk 3 sc, sl st in next sc. Repeat from * around to other side of Handle. Fasten off.

Starch, pin right-side-up in true shape, press flat thru a cloth and leave until dry.

No. 3-TRIVET (Size-6 x 8 ¾ inches):-Illustrated on front cover at right.

CENTER: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2d ch from hook, join with sl st in back lp of 1st sc.

RND 2: * Ch 2, 3 sc in 2d ch from hook, cup 3 sc with right side inside and working in back lp only, sc in 1st sc, sc in each sc around and around for 2 ¼ inches, having 3 sc in rnd at all times (crocheted rope); sk 1 sc, sl st in next sc, sl st in same sc on center, sl st in next sc; repeat from * 5 times. Fasten off.

RND 3: Attach to center of one rope lp, * make rope for 2 ¼ inches, sk 1 sc, sl st in next sc, sc in center of next lp; repeat from * 5 times. Fasten off.

RND 4: Repeat Rnd 3 making ropes 3 inches long.

RING: Ch 14, join with sl st to form ring.

RND 1: Ch 1, 23 sc in ring; join.

RND 2: Ch 1, 25 sc in ring, inserting hook in center opening; join and fasten off. Make 7. Sew a Ring to sc between every 2 lps in Rnd 3. Sew lps in Rnd 4 to 7 sc around Rings.

HANDLE: Make rope for 9 inches. Sew tog. 1 ¾ inches from ends. Spread ends and sew to 2 lps in Rnd 4 one-half inch from Handle ends. Sew 7th Ring inside top lp of Handle.

Starch and block as for No. 2-Trivet.

NO. 4-TRIVET (Size-5 ¾ x 9 inches):-Illustrated on front cover at center.

CENTER: Ch 29, join with sl st to form ring.

RND 1: Ch 2, hdc in next ch, (2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch) 9 times, hdc in sl st, join with sl st in ch-2, sl st in next 2 hdc.

RND 2: Ch 27, keeping lp on hook, sl st in 6th st to right on Center; ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 6 ch, (2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch) 4 times, 2 hdc in next ch, hdc in 6 ch, sc in next ch, sl st in same hdc at base of lp. Fasten off. Attach to 12th st up right side of lp and working around Center from left-to-right, * (ch 25, sl st in 4th st to right around Center, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 12 ch) * 3 times, ch 30, sl st in next 5th st on Center, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 17th ch; ch 35, sl st in same st on Center, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 17 ch; ch 25, sl st in next 5th st on Center, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 12 ch; repeat from * to * twice; ch 12, join to 12th st up side of 1st lp.

RND 3: Ch 1 and working from right-to-left, * 2 sc in 1st ch of next sp, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make dc in next 2 ch, Y 0 and draw thru all 3 lps on hook at same time (Cluster made), dc in next 2 ch made into a cluster, hdc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, 2 sc across end of next bar; * repeat from * to * 3 times; 2 sc in 1st ch of next sp, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in 5 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in 5 ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, 2 sc on next bar; repeat from * to * 4 times, omitting the last 2 sc in final repeat. Sc in next 2 hdc on next lp, ** ch 4, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in same st, sc in same hdc with last sc, sl st in next hdc, ** ch 5, tr in same st, tr in next 3 sts, ch 5, sl st in same st with last tr, sc in next st; repeat from ** to **.

RND 4: Working in back lps, sc in 1st 3 sc on next sp, * hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts, sc in next 4 sts, sl st in next st, ** sc in next 4 sc; * repeat from * to * 3 times; hdc in next 8 sc, 5 hdc in next (center) st, hdc in next 8 sc, sc in next 3 sc, sl st in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; repeat from * to * 3 times and from * to ** again. Fasten off.

Make 2 pieces. With backs facing, sew tog. across both edges of all sections.

RING: Attach to ring, ch 1, 32 sc in ring, join to back lp of 1st sc.

RND 2: Sl st in back lp of each sc around; join, fasten off. Sew to top (tr) piece.
