Edging Pattern #8043
Make a chain slightly longer than desired length. 1st row: Make a Clones knot as follows: * Thread over, pass hook under chain, thread over and draw loop forward. Repeat from * 7 more times, thread over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten, s c in 4th ch from hook, at base of knot (this completes a Clones knot), ch 10, skip 21 ch, s c in next ch, * ch 14, make a Clones knot, ch 10, skip 10 ch, s c in next ch. Repeat from * across. Fasten off. 2nd row: Attach thread to 10th ch to the right from 1st Clones knot made, ch 14, make a Clones knot, ch 14, make another Clones knot, * ch 10, s c in st behind next Clones knot of previous row, ch 14, make a Clones knot. Repeat from * across, ending with s c in st behind last Clones knot. Fasten off. 3rd row: Attach thread behind 1st Clones knot of 2nd row, * ch 14, make a Clones knot, ch 10, s c in st behind next Clones knot. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 14, make a Clones knot, ch 14, make another Clones knot, ch 10, sl st in last Clones knot of 1st row. Fasten off. 4th row: Attach thread behind 1st Clones knot of 2nd row, ch 20, tr tr in st behind 1st Clones knot of 3rd row, * ch 20, tr tr in same place, ch 10, s c behind next Clones knot, ch 10, tr tr in next Clones knot. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 20, s c in st behind last Clones knot of 2nd row. Fasten off. 5th row: Attach thread to 1st loop, 12 s c in same loop, * 12 s c in next loop, ch 4, make a Clones knot, 12 s c in same loop, 12 s c in each of next 2 ch-10 loops. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.
