MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Art. 65 or Art. 97 DAISY Mercerized Crochet Cotton size 30 White and
Art. 97 Rainbow
or
Art. 161 Lily MERCROCHET Cotton size 20 or size 30 in White and Pastels.
Crochet hook No. 12.

BLOCK–(Size–3½ inches)–With White (ch 6, sl st in 4th ch from hook for a p) 6 times, remove hook, insert it in starting st, catch lp and draw thru, forming a ring with ps on inside. ROW 2–Sc at base of last p, (ch 18, 2 sc in next sp, ch 18, sc in same sp, sc at base of next p) 6 times. Join to 1st sc (12 lps). Fasten off. ROW 3–Beginning at start of one color section of Rainbow (or Pastels), join to 1 lp, ch 3, 2 dc in same lp, ch 6, sl st in 6th ch from hook for a p, 3 dc in same lp, (3 dc, a ch-6 p, 3 dc) in each lp around, adjusting length of sts so a shell comes out of each color section. Join to top of ch-3. Fasten off. ROW 4–Join White to 1 p, ch 11, * (dc, ch 7, dc) in next p, ch 8, dc in next p, ch 8 and repeat from * around. Join to 3d ch of ch-11. ROW 5–Ch 1, 3 sc in next lp, * (ch 2, tr) 3 times in next ch-7 lp, ** ch 7, tr in same lp, (ch 2, tr) twice in same lp, ch 2, 3 sc in left end of next lp, ch 10, 3 sc in right end of next lp. Repeat from * around. End with ch-10, sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off.

2d BLOCK–Repeat to ** in Row 5. Ch 3, sl st in center st of one point on 1st Block, ch 3, tr back in same lp on 2d Block, (ch 2, tr) twice in same lp, ch 2, 3 sc in left end of next lp ch 5, sl st in next ch-10 lp on 1st Block, ch 5, 3 sc hack in next lp on 2d Block, (ch 2, tr) 3 times in next ch-7 lp, ch 3, sl st in center st of next point on 1st Block, ch 3, tr back in same lp on 2d Block, (ch 2, tr) twice in same lp. Complete row as for 1st Block.

3d BLOCK–Join on 2 sides to both 1st and 2d Blocks in same way.

Work as many Blocks as desired, joining in same manner. Stretch and pin finished doily right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
