3 skeins Lt. Pink and 4 skeins Rose Pink (Sufficient for 4 Place Mats). (In Daisy, use Rose Pink for Beauty Pink and Lt. Pink for Baby Pink in directions below)

Art. 161 Lily MERCROCHET Cotton size 30
5 balls Baby Pink and 6 balls Beauty Pink (Sufficient for 4 Place Mats).
Crochet hook No. 13.

DOILY–(Size 12 x 18 inches)–Motif–With Beauty Pink ch 6, join with sl st to form ring. * Ch 11, sc in 4th ch from hook, hdc in next ch, (dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch) twice, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sc in ring. Repeat from * 3 times working over starting end to cover it up. Fasten off on back. 2d Motif–Repeat to *. Ch 9, sl st in tip of 1 petal on 1st Motif, ch 1, sk 1 st of ch-9, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, (dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch) twice, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sc in ring. Make 3 more petals as for 1st Motif. Make 5 more Motifs joining into a straight row by opposite petals (completing Row 1 at one end of doily).

ROW 2–With Baby Pink make a Motif with 1 petal, ch 9, join to top of petal of 1st Motif at left end of Row 1, complete this 2d petal, ch 9, join between 1st 2 Motifs in Row 1, complete this 3d petal, ch 9, join to top petal of 2d Motif in Row 1, complete this 4th petal and fasten off. Repeat across row (6 Motifs), joining one between every 2 Motifs in Row 1. ROW 3–With Beauty Pink make a Motif with 2 petals, ch 9, join to same top petal of 1st Motif at left end of Row 1, complete this 3d petal, ch 9, join to top petal on next Baby Pink Motif in Row 2, complete this 4th petal and fasten off. Make a 2d Motif with 1 petal, ch 9, join to same top petal of 1st Baby Pink Motif in Row 2, complete this 2d petal, ch 9, join to top petal of next Beauty Pink Motif in Row 1 (between 1st 2 Baby Pink Motifs), complete this 3d petal, ch 9, join to top petal of next Baby Pink Motif in Row 2, complete this 4th petal and fasten off. Continue across row in same way (7 Motifs). Repeat, alternating rows of 6 Baby Pink Motifs, with rows of 7 Beauty Pink Motifs, thru 11th row of Beauty Pink Motifs (10 rows of Baby Pink Motifs).

BORDER–With work wrong-side-up, sc in Baby Pink in 1st free petal on a corner Motif, ch 25, sc in next free petal on same Motif, * ch 21, turn, swing hook to right, insert it down in joining of Motifs, thread over and draw thru work and lp on hook, ch 1, sk last st of ch-21, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, (dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch) twice, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next 2 ch (10 ch left), ch 10, turn, sc in free petal on next Beauty Pink Motif. Repeat from * around with ch-25 around each corner. Join and fasten off. ROW 2–With work right-side-up join Beauty Pink to 1st petal to right of one corner, ch 3, * 17 dc in half of corner ch-25, 5 dc in center st of same ch, 17 dc in bal. of same ch, dc in next sc, (11 dc in next lp, dc in next petal) repeated across to corner. Repeat from * around, join to ch-3. Fasten off. ROW 3–Join Baby Pink to center dc at one corner, * ch 13, sc in same st, ch 9, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, (ch 9, sk 5 dc, sc in next dc) repeated to 1st dc in 5-dc shell at next corner, ch 9, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join. ROW 4–Sl st to center of corner lp, (ch 5, sc in next lp) repeated around, join and fasten off. ROW 5–Join Beauty Pink to one corner, ch 3, 4 dc in same corner st, * (5 dc in next sp, dc in next sc) repeated across to corner, 5 dc in corner sc. Repeat from * around, join to ch-3. Fasten off. Repeat Rows 3, 4 and 5 three times.

Stretch and pin doily right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
