HANDLES: Crochet a chain about 14¾ inches long, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows.
Next 6 Rows. 1 s c in each s c, cut thread at end of last row leaving a length for sewing. Sew long sides together. Make another handle in same manner.
FINISHING: Cut a piece of buckram same size as bottom of bag. Cut another piece of buckram long enough to fit around outer edge of 1st piece and 7½ inches high. Sew 1 long edge to outer edge of 1st piece. Sew short edges together. Place in bag and turn free part of top of bag downward over the buckram, sew in position. Line if desired. Place handles in position about 3 inches in from sides and 2½ inches down from top. Sew to bag leaving about a 1 inch opening from lower edge free for ribbon. Cut 4-6 inch strips of ribbon. Place through free ends of bag as illustrated.
