REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 250-yards of #30 Crochet Cotton
CROCHET HOOK: 1-steel #10
8-inch Character Doll
1½-yds. narrow ribbon; ½-yd. 3-inch ribbon and a small piece of elastic.

DRESS: Starting at the waist line, make a chain of 58 sts, turn; 1 d c in 4th st from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 d c in next chain; repeat from * across (18 spaces). Ch 4, turn. ROW 2: * 2 d c in ch-2 space, 1 d c in next d c; repeat from * across row; ending with 1 d c in top of turning chain (55 d c). Ch 4, turn. ROWS 3-4-5: Make 1 d c in each stitch across, ending with 1 d c in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn. ROW 6: 1 d c in next 10 sts, ch 6, skip 6 sts, 1 d c in next 21 sts, ch 6, skip 6 sts, 1 d c in next 10 sts, 1 d c in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn. ROW 7: 1 d c in next 10 sts, 6 d c over ch-6 space, 1 d c in next 21 sts, 6 d c over ch-6 space, 1 d c in last 11 sts. Ch 4, turn. ROWS 8 and 9: Make 1 d c in each st across row, ending with 1 d c in top of turning chain. Ch 1, turn. ROW 10: 1 s c in each stitch across row. Break thread.

SKIRT PART: Join thread in 10th space on bottom of waist part; chain 4, 2 d c in same space; * 1 d c in next d c, 3 d c in next space; repeat from * around row of spaces; ending with a slip st in top of beginning chain. Note: Hereafter the work will be done in rounds, joining each round as you finish it. Pick up the back loops of the sts on the row below. 2nd round: Ch 3, * 1 d c in each of the next 7 sts, 2 d c in next st; repeat from * around. 3rd rd: Ch 3, * 1 d c in next 6 sts, 2 d c in next st; repeat from * around. 4th rd: Ch 3, 1 d c in next 5 sts, 2 d c in next st; repeat from * around. 5th and 6th rds: Ch 3, 1 d c in next 4 sts, 2 d c in next st; repeat from * around. 7th and 8th rds: Ch 3, * 1 d c in next 3 sts, 2 d c in next st; repeat from * around. 9th-10th-11th rds: Ch 3, * 1 d c in next 2 sts, 2 d c in next st; repeat from * around. 12th and 13th rds: Ch 3, 1 d c in each st around. Break thread. ARMHOLE: Fasten thread at underarm, ch 2, make 20 half d c around armhole. Join with a slip st. Break thread. Make the other armhole the same way.

PANTIES: Chain 55 sts, join with a slip st. Ch 3, 1 d c in each chain st. Join round with a slip st. Make 4 rows of d c increasing 3 sts in a round. 6th rd: * Ch 5, skip 2 d c, 1 s c in next st, repeat from * around. 7th and 8th rds: Ch 5, 1 s c in next space; repeat around. Make a chain of 10 sts for crotch of panties.

HAT: Chain 72 sts, join with a slip st to form a ring. 1st rd: Ch 5, * skip 2 chain sts, 1 d c in next chain, ch 2; repeat from * around, ending with ch-2, join with a slip st in 3rd st of ch-5. 2nd rd: Ch 5, * 1 d c in next d c, ch 2; repeat from * around, ending as first round. 3rd rd: * Ch 4, s c in next d c; repeat from * around. Mark beginning of the round as an aid in count­ing. 4th-5th-6th-7th-8th rds: Ch 5, s c in next loop; repeat around. At the end of the 8th round, break thread. Thread nar­row ribbon in 2nd row of spaces. Tie in a bow at back of hat.

FINISHING: Sew ends of elastic together. Gather ribbon onto this for underslip.
