MATERIALS:
CHADWICK'S RED HEART BABY POMPADOUR, 1 ball (¾ oz. ball).
Milward's Casein Crochet Hook No. 3, or
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (Double 0).
1½ yds. narrow ribbon.

FOOT—Toepiece … Ch 11 (to measure about 1½ inches). 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (10 sc). Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat the 2nd row 10 more times (12 rows in all). Then work as follows: Ch 35 for ankle, sc in 1st st at beginning of last row, then working along side of toepiece, work sc in end of each row. Work sc in each st along other side of foundation chain, sc in end of each row along other side of toepiece, and sc in each ch of ch-35. Continue working sc in each st around until there are 9 rnds from ch-35. Next rnd: Dec 2 sts at toe and 2 sts at center back for heel—to dec, work off 2 sts as 1 st. Repeat the last rnd 3 more times. Fasten off. Sew edges together to form sole.

TOP … Attach thread at center back. 1st rnd: Ch 4, * skip 1 st, dc in next st, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st in 3rd st of ch-4 (24 sps). 2nd rnd: Ch 3, * skip 1 dc, in next dc make (dc, ch 2) 3 times; and dc (shell made). Skip 1 dc, dc in next dc (single dc). Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. 3rd rnd: Draw loop on hook up to measure ¾ inch, then make a cluster around turning ch as follows: * Yarn over hook, insert hook from right to left behind turning ch bringing it out between turning ch and shell, and draw a ¾-inch loop through. Repeat from * 2 more times, yarn over and draw through all 7 loops on hook, ch 1 (cluster made). Skip 1 ch-2 sp of shell, make a 4-dc shell with ch 2 between in next sp of same shell. ** Cluster around the single dc, shell in center sp of next shell. Repeat from ** around. Join with sl st to top of 1st cluster. Repeat the last rnd 3 more times. Fasten off. Run ribbon through spaces at ankle and tie bow.
