MATERIALS — Fleisher's or Bear Brand Petite Knitting Worsted, Color "A", 7 (2 oz.) skeins; Color "B", 2 (2 oz.) skeins.
Fleisher's or Bear Brand Glow-Knit, Color "A", 8 (2 oz.) skeins; Color "B", 3 (2 oz.) skeins.
Bucilla Plastic Crochet Hook, Size 10.

GAUGE: 5 shells = 8 inches; 22 rows = 6 inches

With B, ch 271 sts loosely; do not break yarn: fasten off by loosening last loop and passing ball through loop, tighten loop; drop B.
Row 1—With loop of A on hook, working in horizontal loop in back of ch st, 1 sc in last st of ch, * skip 2 sts, 1 shell of 5 dc in back of next st, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in back of next st; repeat from * to end; fasten off as before; drop A.
Row 2—With B, working from same side as last row, 1 sc in first sc, * ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, work a long sc, inserting hook in same st with sc on foundation ch, working over sc of previous row; repeat from *, working off last 2 loops of last sc with A; drop B.
Row 3—With A, ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first sc, * skip 1 ch st and 1 sc, 1 sc under next ch 1, skip 1 sc and 1 ch st, 1 shell of 5 dc in next long sc; repeat from *, end last repeat with 3 dc in last sc; fasten off as before.
Row 4—With B, working from same side as last row, 1 sc in top of turning ch, * 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 long sc over next sc in ch 1 space on last B row, work­ing over next sc of previous row, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc; repeat from * to within 1 dc of end, 1 sc in last dc, working off last 2 loops with A. Drop B.
Row 5—With A, ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first sc, * skip 1 sc and 1 ch st, 1 shell in next long sc, skip 1 ch st and 1 sc, 1 sc under next ch 1; repeat from *, end last repeat 1 sc in last sc; fasten off as before.
Row 6—Work as for row 2, working long sc over sc in same space in last B row.
Repeat last 4 rows until there are 31 shell rows in all, end with B row, working off last 2 loops of last sc with A. Break off B. Do not turn.

FRINGE—With A, working on short side edge, 1 sc in side of last sc, ch 80 loosely, 1 sc in same st with last sc, * 1 sc in sc of next shell row, ch 80, 1 slip st in same st, 1 sc in next B row, ch 80, 1 slip st in same st, 1 sc in next shell row, ch 80, 1 slip st in same side edge of half shell, ch 80, 1 sc in same shell, 1 sc in next B row, ch 80, 1 slip st in same st; repeat from *, end last repeat 1 sc in last B stripe, ch 80,1 sc in same st. Fasten off. Work fringe on other short side in same way.
Block to 70 ins. by 22 ins. This stole is blocked 3 ins. wider than approximate measurement given.
