The * is used in repeating – ‘repeat from *’ – means to repeat everything that follows the last *.

Chain = ch; Slip Stitch = sl st; Single Crochet = sc; Treble Crochet = tr; Double Treble Crochet = dtr.

This pattern contains directions for a crocheted TV cover worked in a combina­tion of filet crochet and regular crochet. Square may be made in either fine or heavy cotton.

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS AND SIZES

SQUARE

1ST ROUND: Ch 12, join with a sl st into a ring, ch 6, 31 dtr (thread 3 times around hook for a dtr) into ring, a sl st in top st of ch 6 at beginning of round.

2ND ROUND: Ch 6, 1 dtr in next st, * ch 3, 1 dtr in each of next 2 sts; repeat from * around, end with ch 3, a sl st in top st of first ch 6 (there are 16 ch loops in round).

3RD ROUND: Ch 6, 1 dtr in next dtr, * ch 5, 1 sc in center st of (ch 3) loop, ch 5, 1 dtr in each of 2 dtr; repeat from * around, end with ch 5, 1 sc in center st of (ch 3) loop, ch 5, a sl st in top st of first ch 6.

4TH ROUND: Ch 6, 1 dtr in next dtr, * ch 9, skip 2 ch loops, 1 dtr in each of 2 dtr; repeat from * around, end with ch 9, a sl st in top st of first ch 6.

5TH ROUND: Ch 6, 1 dtr in next dtr, * ch 6, 1 sc in center st of ch loop, ch 6, 1 dtr in 2 dtr; repeat from * around, end with ch 6, 1 sc in center st of ch loop, ch 6, a sl st in top st of first ch 6.

6TH ROUND: Same as 4th round but ch 13 instead of ch 9.

7TH ROUND: Ch 6, 1 dtr in next dtr, * ch 8, 1 sc in center st of ch loop, ch 8, 1 dtr in 2 dtr; repeat from * around, end with ch 8, a sl st in top st of first ch 6.

8TH ROUND: Same as 4th round but ch 17 (instead of ch 9).

9TH ROUND: Ch 6, skip next dtr, 1 tr (thread twice around hook for a tr) in next ch st, * ch 2, skip next st, 1 tr in next st; repeat from * around, end with ch 2, skip next st, a sl st in 4th st of first ch 6 (there are 152 spaces in round).

10TH ROUND: Ch 6, 1 tr in next tr, ch 2, 1 tr in next tr, * 2 tr in next (ch 2) space, 1 tr in next tr, work (ch 2 and 1 tr) in each of 18 tr; repeat from * around, end with (ch 2 and 1 tr) in 15 tr, ch 2, a sl st in 4th st of first ch 6; there are 8 (4 tr) groups.
