MATERIAL:
1 ball Sport yarn (2 oz. ball)
1 ball Sock yarn (1 oz. ball) contrasting color for trimming
1 bone crochet hook Size 3

GAUGE: 6 d.c. = 1 inch

BACK of HAND: Ch 53
   1st row: 1 s.c. in 2nd st. from hook, 1 s.c. in next st., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 4 sts., 1 d.c. in each of the next 46 sts., ch. 3, turn.
   2nd row: 1 d.c. in each st., increase 1 st. in last st. (to Increase: work 2 d.c. in 1 st.), ch. 3, turn.
   3rd row: Incr. 1 st. in first st., 1 d.c. in each st. to end of row, ch. 3, turn.
   4th row: 1 d.c. in each st., incr. 1 st. in last st., ch. 3, turn.
   5th row: 1 d.c. in each st., ch. 3, turn.
   6th and 7th row: like 5th row.
   8th row: 1 d.c. in each st., decrease 1 st. at end of row (to decrease: work to within 2 sts. of end, draw up a loop in each of the next 2 sts. and work them off tog. as 1 d.c.), ch. 3, turn.
   9th row: decrease 1 st. at beg. of row. Work 1 d.c. in each st. to end of row, ch. 3, turn.
   10th row: 1 d.c. in each st. decrease 1 st. at end of row, ch. 1, turn.
   11th row: 1 s.c. in each of the first 2 sts., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 4 sts., 1 d.c. in each of the remaining 46 sts. Break off the yarn.
PALM: Attach yarn on the 13th d.c. in last row and ch. 15, turn, 1 d.c. in 4th st. from hook, 1 d.c. in each of the remaining 11 sts. on ch. 1 d.c. in each of the next 34 sts., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 4 sts., 1 s.c. in each of the next 2 sts., ch. 3, turn.
   Next row: incr. 1 st. in first st., 1 d.c. in each st. to end of row, ch. 3, turn.
   Next row: 1 d.c. in each st., incr. 1 st. in last st., ch. 3, turn.
   Next row: incr. 1 st. in first st., 1 d.c. in each st. to end of row, ch. 3, turn.
   Next row: 1 d.c. in each st., ch. 3, turn.
   Repeat last row twice more.
   Next row: decr. 1 st. at beg. of row, 1 d.c. in each of the next 29 sts., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 2 sts., 1 s.c. in each of the next 3 sts. Break off yarn.
   Now work the inside of thumb and upper part of the mitten.
   Connect yarn in the 26th sts. (counting from tip down), tie in a different colored thread as marker and ch. 18, turn, 1 s.c. in 2nd st. from hook, 1 s.c. in next st., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 2 sts., 1 d.c. in each of the rem. 13 sts. on ch. and the rem. 26 sts. to end of row, ch. 3, turn.
   Next row: decrease 1 st. at beg. of row, 1 d.c. in each st., ch. 1, turn.
   Next row: 1 s.c. in each of the next 2 sts., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 2 sts., 1 d.c. in each of the next 31 sts., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 4 sts., 1 s.c. in each of the rem. sts. Break off the yarn.
   Now start the outside of thumb and the lower part of palm.
   Connect yarn at marker and ch. 18, turn, 1 s.c. in 2nd st. from hook, 1 s.c. in next st., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 2 sts., 1 d.c. in each of the next 13 sts. and the remaining 29 sts., ch. 3, turn.
   Next row: 1 d.c. in each st, ch. 1, turn.
   Next row: 1 s.c. in each of the next 2 sts., 1 h.d.c. in each of the next 2 sts., 1 d.c. in each of the rem. sts. Break off the yarn.
   Make the other mitten to correspond.
FINISHING:
   Sew up mitten, leaving slit open to correspond other side.
   Edging: 1st row: 1 s.c. in each st. with contrasting color around cuff, going in each corner st. 3 times.
   2nd row: * 3 d.c. in first st., skip 1, 1 s.c. in next st., skip 1, repeat from * around cuff. Break yarn and fasten off.
   Embroider little flowers as shown in picture on back of mitten. Steam lightly.
