Materials Required — AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" RUG YARN, ARTICLE 44
10-80 yd. Skeins Any Color desired.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 5.
Finished rug measures about 28 inches in diameter.
Each small circle measures about 7 inches in diameter and large circle measures about 14 inches in diameter.
For a smaller rug use "STAR" Cotton Yarn, Article 75.
8-100 yd. Skeins Any Color desired.
Small Circle. Ch 4, join to form a ring, ch 1 and work 6 s c in ring. Without joining rounds work 7 more rounds of s c increasing a sufficient number of times to keep work flat, having 40 sts in last s c round, sl st in next st, ch 1, turn and with wrong side of work toward you, work 1 loop st in each s c, increasing to keep work flat. (Loop st: wind yarn over index finger, insert hook in next st, draw yarn through pulling yarn from under index finger, drop loop from finger letting fall to right side of work and complete s c.) Work 4 more rounds of loop sts increasing to keep work flat, having 57 sts in last round, sl st in each of the next 2 s c, break yarn.
Work 8 more small circles.
Large Circle. Ch 4, join to form a ring, ch 1 and work 6 s c in ring. Continue in same manner as small circle, working 16 rounds in s c and 7 rounds in loop sts having 108 sts in last round.
Sew small circles together as illustrated, sewing 3 sts together on each side of circle, skip 28 sts on outer edge of circle and sew next circle in same manner. Repeat until all circles have been joined.
Place large circle in center and sew small circles around leaving 9 sts free between joinings and 10 sts free on each side of small circles.
