Steel Crochet Hook Number 11.

Ch 7, join to form a ring and work 12 s c into ring.
2nd Row. Ch 5, d c in next s c, * ch 2, d c in next s c, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join in 3rd st of ch 5.
3rd Row. Sl st into mesh, ch 3, 2 d c in same mesh, * 3 d c in next mesh, repeat from * all around.
4th Row. Ch 6, skip 1 d c, d c in next d c, * ch 3, skip 1 d c, d c in next d c, repeat from * all around, ch 3, join in 3rd st of ch 6.
5th Row. 4 d c in each mesh, join.
6th Row. Repeat 4th row.
7th Row. 3 d c in each mesh, join.
8th Row. 1 s c in each d c.
9th Row. Ch 3, 3 d c in same space, remove hook, insert in 3rd st of ch 3 and pull loop through, (popcorn st) * ch 2, skip 2 s c, 4 d c popcorn st in next s c, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join.
10th Row. Sl st into mesh, * ch 4, sl st in next mesh, repeat from * all around.
11th Row. Sl st into loop, popcorn st in same space, * ch 2, popcorn st in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join.
Repeat the 10th and 11th rows 13 times. Repeat the 10th row once more.

Join thread in s c between first row of popcorn sts at base of basket, * ch 2, d c in s c between next 2 popcorn sts, ch 3, tr c in same space, ch 3, tr c in s c between next 2 popcorn sts, ch 3, d c in same space, ch 2, s c in st between next 2 popcorn sts and repeat from * all around.
Next Row. 2 s c in next mesh, 4 s c in next mesh, 2 s c, picot, 2 s c in next mesh, 4 s c in next mesh, 2 s c in next mesh, repeat from beginning all around.
Starching. Insert glass in basket. Turn basket upside down on ironing board, stretch and pin down flat to form a circle. Dampen entire basket thoroughly by patting and rubbing with a cloth dipped in very thick cooked hot starch made of half starch and half sugar (about 3 tsp each). When almost dry remove pins and stand upright and shape as illustrated.
