Clark's Big Ball Three Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 20: 2 balls of White Ecru or Cream.

Doily measures 11 inches in diameter.

   Starting at center, ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 31 dc in ring. Join to 3rd ch of ch-3. 2nd rnd: Ch 8, * skip 3 dc, dc in next dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join to 3rd ch of ch-8. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, * 6 dc in next sp, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: Ch 5, holding back on hook the last loop of each d tr make 2 d tr in same place as sl st, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made); * ch 12, sc in 6th ch from hook (picot made), ch 6, skip 6 dc, make a 3-d tr cluster in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join to tip of first cluster. 5th rnd: Sl st in next 6 ch and in picot, ch 4, 9 tr in same picot, * ch 8, 10 tr in next picot. Repeat from * around. Join. 6th rnd: Ch 5, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 8 times; tr in next tr, * ch 4, tr in next sp, ch 4, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 9 times. Repeat from * around.    Now work pineapple individually as follows: 1st row: Ch 7, dc in each dc across. Ch 4, dc in next sc. Ch 7, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across, ch 4, skip 4 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 7, turn. 4th and 5th rows: Dec 1 dc—to dec 1 dc, work off 2 dc as 1 dc—dc in each dc across to within last 2 dc, dec 1 dc, ch 4, skip 3 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 7, turn. 6th, 7th and 8th rows: Skip first dc, dec 2 dc—to dec 2 dc, work off 3 dc as 1 dc—dc in each dc across to within last 3 dc, dec 2 dc, ch 4, skip 3 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 7, turn. 9th row: Skip first dc, dec 2 dc, dc in next dc, dec 1 dc, ch 4, skip 3 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 7, turn. 10th row: Skip first dc, dec 2 dc, ch 4, skip 4 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 10, turn. Skip first sp and 4 ch on next sp, sl st in next ch. Break off.

NEXT PINEAPPLE ... Attach thread to same sc on 15th rnd, and complete as before. Make remaining pineapples in same way.

EDGING ... Attach thread to the first sp on the side of any pineapple, 3 sc in same sp, * (in next sp make sc, dc, ch 4, sc in 4th ch from hook—picot made—dc and sc) 9 times; in next sp make sc, 6 dc, picot, 5 dc and sc; (in next sp make sc, dc, picot, dc and sc) 9 times; 3 sc in each of next 2 sps. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Starch lightly and press.
