Doily measures 12 x 14 inches

GAUGE: Each motif measures 3 x 7 inches.

FIRST MOTIF—First Pineapple … Ch 15. Join. 1st row: Ch 4, 19 tr in ring. Ch 9, turn. 2nd row: In 6th ch from hook make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made); ch 3, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 19 times; tr in top st of starting chain. Ch 9, turn. 3rd row: Shell in 6th ch from hook, ch 4, sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 18 times; ch 4, shell in sp of next shell (shell made over shell). Ch 5, turn. 4th row: Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 loop, (ch 3, sc in next loop) 17 times; ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn.
   Work as for 4th row (having 1 ch-3 loop less on each row) until 1 ch-3 loop remains. Ch 5, turn. Next row: Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 loop, ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn. Following row: (Shell over shell) twice. Break off (one pineapple completed).

SECOND PINEAPPLE ... 1st row: With right side of 1st row of First Pineapple facing, attach thread to ch-15 ring, ch 4, 19 tr in ring, ch 3, sl st at base of shell on First Pineapple. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Shell in same place as sl st, ch 3, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 19 times; tr in top of starting chain, ch 3, sl st at base of shell on First Pineapple. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Shell in same place as sl st, ch 4, sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 18 times; ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn. Complete as for First Pineapple. This completes motif.

SECOND MOTIF … Work as for First Motif to last row. Ch 5, turn. Last row: (2 dc in sp of next shell, ch 1, sl st in sp of corresponding shell of First Motif, ch 1, 2 dc in same place as last 2 dc were made on Second Motif) twice. Break off.

THIRD MOTIF—First Pineapple … Work first 6 rows as for First Motif. Ch 2, sl st in 4th (turning) ch-5 loop of First Pineapple on First Motif. Ch 2, turn. 7th row: Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 loop, (ch 3, sc in next loop) 14 times; ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn. Complete pineapple as before, joining next loop to adjacent motif in same way (6 free turning chain loops beyond last joining). Complete motif, joining 4th and 5th loops of Second Pineapple to 3rd and 4th loops of adjacent pineapple.

FOURTH MOTIF … Same as previous motif, joining to adjacent motifs as before.
   Make 4 rows of 2 motifs.

SMALL FILL-IN LACE ... Attach thread to 1st free ch-5 loop between side joinings of 2 motifs, ch 5, dc in next loop, ch 2, skip next loop, dc in next loop, (ch 2, dc in next loop) 3 times; ch 2, skip next loop, dc in next loop, ch 2, dc in next loop, ch 2, sl st in 3rd ch of starting ch-5. Break off.

FILL-IN-MOTIF…Ch 15, join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 4, 35 tr in ring. Sl st in top of ch-4. 2nd rnd: Ch 5, (tr in next tr, ch l) 35 times. Sl st in 4th ch of ch-5. 3rd rnd: Sc in next sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 35 times; ch 3. Join. 4th rnd: Sl st in next ch, sc in loop, (ch 4, sc in next loop) 35 times; ch 4. Join. 5th rnd: 2 sc in next loop, * ch 5, sc in second free loop from side joining (between motifs), (ch 2, sc in next turning ch-5 loop) 3 times; ch 2, sc in center of previous ch-5, ch 2, 2 sc in next loop on Fill-in-Motif, (2 sc in next loop, ch 2, sc in next free ch-5 loop, ch 2, 2 sc in next loop on Fill-in-Motif) 8 times; 2 sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with 2 sc in last loop. Join and break off.
