There’s a frosty freshness to the petal-like motif that radiates to join other motifs and spikes the spread with blossoms.

MATERIALS:

SINGLE SIZE
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN,
46 balls of White or Ecru, or 55 balls of any color.

CLARK'S O.N.T. LUSTERSHEEN,
27 skeins of White or Ecru, or 36 skeins of any color.

DOUBLE SIZE
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN,
36 balls of White or Ecru, or 44 balls of any color.

35 skeins of White or Ecru, or 46 skeins of any color.

Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 7 or 8.

GAUGE:

Each block measures about 4½ inches square before blocking. For a single size spread, about 72 x 108 inches, make 15 x 23 blocks. For a double size spread, about 90 x 108 inches, make 19 x 23 blocks.

BLOCK … Starting at center, ch 5, join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 4, * d c in ring, ch 1. Repeat from * 6 more times. Join to 3rd st of ch-4 (8 sps). 2nd rnd: Ch 3, * 2 d c in sp, d c in next d c. Repeat from * around, ending with 2 d c in last sp; join to 3rd st of ch-3 (24 d c, counting ch-3 as d c). 3rd rnd: Ch 3, 2 d c in same place as sl st, * ch 3, skip 2 d c, 3 d c in next d c. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3; join. 4th rnd: Ch 3, d c in same place as sl st, * d c in next d c, 2 d c in next d c, ch 3, 2 d c in next d c. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, join. 5th rnd: Ch 3, d c in same place as sl st, * d c in next 3 d c, 2 d c in next d c; ch 3, 2 d c in next d c, ch 3, skip 1 d c, s c in next d c, ch 3, skip 1 d c, 2 d c in next d c, ch 3, 2   d c in next d c. Make necessary number of blocks and sew together with neat over-and-over stitches as in illustration—the entire outer edge of spread should be finished with the scalloped edge (having 5 scallops on outer edge of each corner motif, and 3 scallops on outer edges of all other motifs); these scallops can be made as the outer blocks are crocheted (see illustration of spread).
